  • Terra cotta flower pots
  • Tiles or broken china pieces
  • Tile cutters
  • Polymer-fortified thin-set mortar
  • Sanded group
  • Hammer
  • Butter knife
  • Gloves
  • Wire brush and cloth
  • Buckets for mixing mortar and grout

Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Wrap a tile in a cloth, glazed side down, and strike it with a hammer. Lay out the pieces and modify with tile cutting pliers as needed. Then chalk the design layout onto the pot

Step 2

Mix a polymer-fortified thin-set mortar with water until it’s the consistency of peanut butter. Spread it on one tile piece at a time with a butter knife and stick the tile to the pot. Repeat, leaving space between pieces as shown. Let set overnight.

Step 3

Mix sanded grout with water to the consistency of peanut butter. Wearing gloves, slather the grout liberally over the pot’s surface, rubbing it into the spaces. Wipe off excess with a wire brush and cloth. Allow to dry. Seal grout if desired.
