If you are like me, you’re always looking for exciting new birding hotspots to explore. As I looked around online for a wonderful new place to write about, I came across the Maine Birding Trail. If you aren’t familiar with birding trails, they tend to consist of a variety of birding sites that have joined together to create a quality trail of great birding locations.

The free Maine Birding Trail consists of 82 sites and the paid version has more than 260 sites to explore. You can download the free version here. The trail is broken down into eight sections. No matter where in Maine you are traveling, you’ll find some great birding hotspots.

With a huge variety of habitats, there’s always something new and interesting to find in Maine. Whether planning a trip to the fantastic Maine coast or visiting the north woods, this birding trail makes it easy to know exactly where you should spend your time.

Birding in Maine can be fun and exciting now matter what your level of expertise. Even those that aren’t particularly interested in birds would enjoy a trip to see breeding Atlantic Puffins. For the beginning and intermediate birders, Maine give you the chance to visit a variety of habitats without too much travel. This can lead to quite an amazing list of birds! For the serious birder, Maine is one of the best places to see the difficult to find Bicknell’s Thrush.
