Best Books about Birds
These are some of my favorite books about birds that I can read over and over again.
When the winter weather makes it hard to get out birding, sometimes I turn to these awesome books about birds rather than venturing out birding.
1. Kingbird Highway by Kenn Kaufman
This is my favorite on the list and a book that I’ve ready so many times that I’ve actually lost track. It’s the story of a big year done almost completely by hitchhiking. Be careful, you might not be able to put this one down once you start reading it.
2. Living on the Wind by Scott Weidensaul
Living on the Wind takes you throughout the Western Hemisphere with migrating birds. Also consider Weidensaul’s other books, as they are all fantastic!
3. The Big Year by Mark Obmascik
Another big year story full of excitement! This is the story of three men all doing a big year in 1998.
4. Life List by Olivia Gentile
This is the story of Phoebe Snetsinger and her incredible life list.
5. Imperial Dreams by Tim Gallagher
Imperial Dreams takes you to the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico in search of the likely extinct Imperial Woodpecker.
