For a few weeks at a time we are lucky to have rufous hummingbirds visit our Northern California garden along their migratory path. This female rufous stops to put on a show; flaring her tail feathers aggressively. Short as their visit may be they defend the territory fiercely; hassling all other rufous as well as the local Annas species before resuming their long journey. Photographed using a Nikon D500.
