I make regular visits to area botanical gardens and arboretums in the East Texas area. I must admit that they all display beautiful flowers that my camera loves to photograph. In spite of this, I wanted to make a Bloom entry of a flower that is found naturally in my area. After much deliberation, I settled on my entry of Blackberry flowers. I think this is a very appropriate entry for several reasons. First, they are beautiful in their natural locations while also being a part of the natural environment by providing fruit that is enjoyed by many birds and animals including raccoons, foxes and deer. I found this beautiful grouping at the Mineola Nature Preserve in Mineola, Texas during one of my regular summer hikes on one of the many trails of the preserve. I felt the white flowers and green leaves with the total black background was a beautiful combination worthy of entry in your contest. I also feel strongly that it is important for your magazine to include pictures of flowers that are found in natural environments and not always in manicured gardens. That’s why I feel strongly that this photo should be entered and strongly considered. As with all of my photos, I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ150 camera to capture the beauty of these Blackberry flowers.
