Clothespin craft projects are economical and fun, perfect for creating party favors or as a recycled crafts project for large groups. Use our patterns to create butterfly or hummingbird clothespins, or branch out and invent your own!

Materials:

  • Patterns
  • Scraps of card stock
  • Glue dots
  • Dimensional foam adhesive
  • Spring clothespins
  • Acrylic glitter paint
  • Sponge brush

Step-By-Step Instructions:

Step 1

Use a sponge brush to paint the clothespins. Apply as many coats as you need for complete coverage. Make sure you let the paint dry between coats. (For easier painting, you can even take the clothespin apart first and reassemble it after the parts dry.)

Step 2

Print and cut out the templates to the right. Choose two card stocks in coordinating colors. Trace your choice of hummingbird or butterfly template onto the back of each piece and cut out the shapes.

Step 3

Place one cutout on top of the other, face up with the edges matching. For the butterfly, use glue dots to adhere the narrow center strips together. For the hummingbird, use dimensional foam adhesive to adhere the head and body areas together. Then bend the top wing(s) slightly forward.

Step 4

Center the butterfly or hummingbird on top of the painted clothespin and use glue dots to adhere.
