DIY Sugar Scrub Gift for Gardeners
Need a Mother's Day gift for gardeners? Try this easy DIY sugar scrub for their hard-working hands!
Gardeners’ hands take a real beating. Even if you wear gloves, you still seem to wind up with callouses and dirt under your nails. That’s why this DIY sugar scrub is a great gift for gardeners. It’s all natural, but does a wonderful job of cleaning off grime while leaving hands unbelievably soft. And you can mix this up in just a few minutes!
DIY Citrus & Brown Sugar Hand Scrub Materials
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 cup almond oil (or any other vegetable oil you like)
- Lemon essential oil
- Orange essential oil
- 2-cup jar or other container(s) – see below
Combine the oil and brown sugar and mix thoroughly. Add essential oils drop by drop to get the scent level you prefer. I used about 1/2 teaspoon each of orange and lemon. (Note that these are not orange and lemon flavorings, but essential oils. Look for them in health food or specialty stores.) Pour into jar(s).
A note about storage: Choose containers that provide a water-tight seal, such as the jar with a rubber gasket shown here. As long as you keep water out of the container, you can store the scrub for weeks or even months without worrying about separation or spoilage.
To use, scoop a small amount out into damp hands and massage for about 30 seconds, paying special attention to cuticles and rough spots. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. If you’re presenting this scrub as a gift, you can print the tag below and attach it to your jar.
Make this gift for gardeners extra special by presenting it in a basket along with a new pair of gardening gloves and a nail brush. The gardeners in your life will love it!
