Oh boy Charlene! Love those flowers. Wouldn’t mind having some. If there are any seeds that you would like, I could send them to you as well.

Good morning! We are finally having a real break from the humidity. Mind you, thundershowers are in the forecast for this evening. Another day of no watering. I’m not complaining.

Charlene, wow….that is so cool. I wish I could go to Ancestry.com. I did 3 years ago. When I visited New York, I joined the ancestry registrar, but when I tried to look for my long lost grandfather, I was not able to. The cost to register was minimal. I’ve always wanted to know where my paternal grandfather lived when he moved to the states. We never heard from him. Mind you at the turn of the 20th century it was not easy. It’s a long story!

Molly, I hope you get your lawn mower fixed. With the hot weather, maybe you can wait until it cools down a bit….Hmmmm….not so sure you can wait. Grass grows so fast…!

Kathy, I know you work very hard. You probably need the extra sleep. PLus the hot and humid weather you are having is no help. I find that humidity just gets me!

I have to mow both the front of the house and the back before the rain. We have a by-law that you cannot make noise before 9AM. Sounds about right to me. If I were to sleep in, I would appreciate the no noise factor.

    Have a great day!

Good morning all! Talk about gloomy…!!!! Looks like another day of rain. I will gladly share rain with anyone needing it. Plus it looks like the same for tomorrow.

I seem to be posting backwards…like what I did yesterday. For some reason, this summer I just can’t catch up with my computer. I get on it here and there, but then I think of other things that have to be done…and I’m gone.

Yesterday my youngest son called and invited me to spend the day with his family. What a great time I had. I finally got the courage to go into their pool…well I could not refuse, my 2 DGDs insisted grandma stop being chicken and come play with them. Lots of fun. Mind you, the water was cold, but once you were in it I could stand it. After dinner I came back home to my furbabies. I sure can’t complain that I had a boring weekend….it was anything but that…Saturday at the bach with DD and the boys, and Sunday in the pool with DS#2 with the girls.

This summer gardening has taken last place on my to do things. Just can’t seem to get my act together. Good thing the plants are established and have to fend for themselves…not to mention mother nature watering them.

Molly, hope your eye surgery goes well. I had laser surgery on both eyes, and one minor laser surgery to unblock an artery behind my retina. Piece of cake!

Hope you all have a nice day!

Yesterday my DD and her boys and I drove to the beach. Talk about cheeky guests…uninvited ones at that. Could it be the blanket is the reason…lol?

It is scary because of the decline of bees, butterflies and even birds.

I must say that I have done everything to keep multiplying the species that visit my feeders…no matter how cold or hot. I have been rewarded by the great increase of goldfinches. It began with roughly 3 couples, and now it’s in the twenties. The chickadees too have multiplied. The nuthatches are increasing with sightings of rust breasted nuthatches. I did try to attract the Boston Orioles, but no sign of them. In the meantime the ants are having a ball with the grape jelly and oranges…lol.

At least the cardinals keep residing here year round, and add to the bird count by having babies. This year the couple had 3 female cardinals. Good sign. These 3 will have babies next year. Mind you they move. Cardinals have a specific territory.

I did try to add nesting boxes for bees, but it was a failure. Guess I am to blame. I never learned how to do it properly. Might give it a try again.

Rach75, welcome to the gardening forum.

Just as Leroy suggested, phlox are a hardy plant. Here they are perennials. If the root is well established you should have no problem of losing it. I would keep watering them as much as possible. They may not look good, but maybe next year with more rain they will do better. That is the problem….heat is good but not too much of it. Good luck!

Hi Charlie and gang! Yes, it was humid here as well. Looks like tomorrow will be just as hot and humid. I heard the junebug in singing in full force. My mom used to say that when they made their noise you could be sure that the next day would be hot.

Not much of a day. I did get the pump in the pond cleaned. A pond is nice but a lot of work. The fish seem fine.

Then at 6 PM my friend/neighbour and I went to the public swimming pool. It was refreshing. I’m not fond of public pools….a little queasy. I must say it cooled me down. I finished with some knitting and now for some tv.

Hope you all had a nice day!

Hi Dorimiller…a warm welcome to the gardening forum.

I tried all the mixes as you did for my gardenia. None of them worked.

What I find works best is End-All 11 by Safer. I had a similar problem with my tropical hibiscus, and with End-All it did the work. I have also used Trounce. I found it was great on roses.

Maybe someone else will give you more information.

I just browsed through a web site that has pictures of different swallows. The one you posted looks like a tree swallow. Just for your information, swallows are my very favourite bird. Second would be all birds of prey.

Welcome to the forum Hawklover! Yes, it is a swallow, but the species…not so sure. Brian has had more experience with taking pictures of swallows. He might be able to help. Hope he sees your picture.

Good morning Alecia and friends! Boy did I miss this forum. Sorry for not contributing more, but it’s been a roller coaster here with water in my basement, visit out of town, visitors from out of town, and the extreme heat. Not to mention my neighbour getting a new puppy which I was totally involved with to help her out.

Looks like I could not pass this little bird up…my permanent resident…the chickadee…a little on the fluffy side…lol. I would say a little rude, lol.

Thanks again Charlene. It will be a challenge to see if they come back as their original. If not….I’m not complaining…Love the ones that came up.
