Charlene, there is no guarantee they will bloom. The stems are ok, but so far no flowers. Maybe the experienced gardeners know more. I’ll let you know.

Good morning! The sun finally came out. It’s a bit colder, but still bearable. No snow in the forecast.

Yes, after yesterday’s chocolate episode, I’ve learned to melt chocolate in the microwave….duh. Strange in years past when there was no microwave I always did ok melting it in the pot.

I have a busy day scheduled. Continue baking cookies, and then shopping. I have to go to many different stores for food items that I am planning to make. Last minute decision…what was supposed to be a simple Christmas dinner, I decided to add some special finger food before the main meal. Just like with my seed planting….I say I won’t plant much, and end up planting too much…Oh well! That is why I’m a Gemini.

I’m afraid I don’t have time to add comments to each one of you, but one about sleeping. I fall asleep in my recliner…then go to bed, only to have my kitty looking in my face at 4:30 to see if I’m sleeping. Well if she would only stare it would not be too bad….but she kneeds her 4 paws on my chest….I rest my case…lol

Grandchildren are precious. I can now see how they slightly distance themselves when they become teenagers. So thankful I still have young ones to spoil. In fact my 7 year old DGS is having a sleepover here tomorrow. He doesn’t know yet or he wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. He loves visiting.

    Have a happy day everyone!

Gayle, I have not forgotten you. I just did not get a chance to take a picture of the African violet I started from one leaf. Here it is.  You can tell the old leaf is hurting.

These are paperwhites from last year. I let them go to sleep and just watered them in November and here they are.

Right now I have some hyacinth’s that I just inserted the bulbs, watered, and waited for them to show some green.

    Great news Charlene….Cheers!

    Hi Wendy!

What a day! My KitchAid mixer was working overtime. I made macaroon cookies, and peanut butter drizzled with chocolate cookies, and the batter for my all time sour cream cookies. These have to be refrigerated. No way can you roll out this dough unless it’s cold and hard. I normally take out a small amount of the dough otherwise, from the warmth of my hands, it gets too soft to handle.

Now here comes the fun part…NOT…! I decided to use a Pyrex measuring cup to melt the chocolate squares to drizzle over the pb cookies. I placed it into the microwave for 5 minutes….big mistake. I’m working around the kitchen counter and hear this loud bang from the microwave. I thought it exploded. Well the pyrex cup shattered in a million pieces…and the chocolate melted on the turn table of the microwave….duh. What was I thinking. I’ve been retired too long from baking.
So I decide to melt 2 more squares in a pot. Yes, it was too high so the chocolate burned.
Anyways my best friend, who is a chef, gave me the proper instruction. It was ok in the end, but I wasted 4 good squares of pure chocolate.

Tomorrow I will try my new machine and see if it can handle my pierogi dough recipe. This I have got to see.

    Waving hello to all!

Marg…believe me…once you try an authentic poutine you will want another one…that is if you have room in your stomach. The actual poutine doesn’t look like much…more like a mess….but oh so good. My grandchildren love poutine. So once in a while I make it for them. I use the St. Hubert sauce. St. Hubert is a restaurant specializing in chicken. They manufacture their products.

Good morning! Let’s just say it’s gloomy out there. We had some flurries, but nothing to talk about. Thank goodness. There is still so much snow from last week.

I’ve been busy catching up with chores that were supposed to be done like yesterday. Anyways, I’m on a roll call. Then it’s serious baking time.

Sue, sounds like you are busy….which is what happens during this time of year.

Kathy, yes, this is the perfect season for depression. There are so many factors that contribute to the feeling of nostalgia, and all the ‘goodies] that go with it. I’m being facetious here. I do believe Melissa suggested vitamin D. Can I just use myself as an example. All those years I suffered through the fall months until Christmas. I tried everything. This year I have been taking vitamin D religiously. Why I say it that way…it’s because I start fast and quit just as fast. I do not miss a day without taking the vitamin. Results….never in my life have I been in this great mental health at this time of year. So maybe, just maybe there is something in that vitamin that does help.

Melissa, to answer your question, yes I am of Polish decent. My parents insisted that I read and write in the language as well. Ever since my mom passed away, I don’t speak it as often as I did. When I don’t want the grandkids to understand…lol, I talk to my kids in Polish. They understand, but can’t speak it.

Molly, yes your Dachshund is getting on. I still tear up when I think of my Willow who was a Dachshund. Oh how I loved him!

Charlene, so sorry to hear about your kitty….hugs! Nice of you to take the time to visit Larry’s aunt. I’m sure she will be thrilled seeing the both of you.

Leslie, I’m sure you have earned the rest from work. Now that is a letter you must be happy about. What a Christmas present…$400.

Sandy, looks like the same weather we are having as you are.

Bette, I left my butter out last night. I get so frustrated when I plan to bake something and the butter is hard. I haven’t made peanut brittle in so many years. Maybe it’s time.

    Have a nice day!
