Posy, we started on April 1, 2009.   Why I remember is because in 2010 by ex left for Greece.  So this is the way I remember it.  I am so glad that I did stop smoking.  Now that my lungs are in the shape they are, I’m so glad I stopped smoking.  I really began to smoke in 2009 so it’s not like I smoked all my life.  Still…….it was not the best thing I did in my life.  No more stench in the house from cigarettes, nor on my clothes.  Whenever I am close to smokers, they smell bad.  Wish I had known that before I would have stopped earlier.  How are you doing with the smoking?

So sorry to hear that you are still not feeling better.  Is it a yearly thing for you?  I normally get a bronchial cold at this time.  Lucky me…nothing attached itself so far.

Hope you recuperate, and take this time to rest and heal.

Yes, I have to agree with you that when alone, being sick is ever worse than when you have a spouse and family around you.  Then again, some might not agree…..lol.

I like doves.  I find them such ‘kind’ birds for a better word.  They always seem calm.

Carol, lovely pictures of your woodie and b. jay.

Sharon, those goldfinches sure look happy.  I don’t see many house finches these days.  Wonder why!!!!

Here are more goldfinches.  As I mentioned before, I think I helped increase the population spoiling them with nyger seeds.

Hi Karen, we must have been typing at the same time.  I’m glad that you mentioned how you feel about S/O and family holiday gatherings.  It was always so difficult to try to please everyone.  My one request was that my three kids and their families spend Christmas Eve at my house.  It had to be changed when one DIL wanted to spend Christmas Eve with her family. So they alternated. Then when DD got married, that same year was her ex’s parents turn.  My oldest boy’s wife is Italian and they celebrated Christmas at lunch and all day.  So they stayed at my house and then went on to her mothers.   We’ve all decided to do the best we can for all holidays taking turns.

Good morning!  It’s chilly outside.  So far no sun, but thank goodness no rain.  Every year it’s the same weather pattern at this time of year.

Molly, so nice when roses root well.  I’ve only had one experience, and they are still blooming.  I tried it years ago.  My mom would cut down a small twig, and voila…a rose.  She would put a glass jar over it.  Worked every time.  For me…only once.

Charlene your weather is about the same as ours.  No fun!

Leslie, the corn maze experience sounds like a lot of fun.  We have a farm about 45 minutes from here that have lots of fall activities, and one of them is a corn maze activity.

Melissa, sounds like you got a lot done.  I must get back to work outdoors.  Enough of partying….lol.

Kathy, there are nights where you don’t get a good night’s sleep.  So hard on the body I find.  If you don’t enough rest, the day is a drag.  Maybe tonight you will sleep like a baby.

I know what I will be doing today….work outdoors, cutting down some plants, raking leaves, and raking more leaves.  Oh my you should see my yard.  I think I will take a picture of it so you can see what has to be done.

Hope you are have a productive day.

I was able to manage to take a couple of pictures while sitting in my kitchen.  What an easy way to capture birds….lol

Good evening!  The weather wasn’t too bad today.  Just a regular October day….a bit on the chilly side.  DD and the boys came over.  We had a very nice time.   I took my 8 year old DGS for a last minute look at the Lion’s book fair while my DD checked some items on my computer.  Most of the books were not up to his liking….hmmm.  Kids these days like up to date reading material…lol.  I then went to pick up some KFC for dinner.  So much easier than cooking….lol.

Karen, when I took a trip to New York city, we went to Ellis Island.  There I bought a membership to Ancestry.com.  I was never able to find out much.  When I used up my free privileges, they wanted to charge me $35.  I said forget it.  I would love to find out where in the US my grandfather settles.  It’s such a long story his life…I could write a book.  My dad had 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  When his father bought tickets to immigrate to the US, my grandmother refused to leave Poland.  He had already found a job and a home.  Well that was the end of that.  She raised the 5 kids all by herself.  She made sure they all got higher education, for that time, and that was that.  No one ever heard from him again.  Guess you can say he was disappointed.  That was a long time ago.  So I might have relatives in the US but don’t know for sure.  Maybe I can give it a try again on Gayle’s site.

Kathy, I can understand you being angry at the neighbour’s cat.  That is the problem with outdoor cats.  They don’t want to mess up their own territory, but search for the neighbours around.  This happens to me all the time.  Each time I bought a new car, the cats would sit on top of the hood.  I mean a completely new shiny car.  Nothing was ever done.  Plus they like to use an area in front of my hostas as their bathroom facility.  I can’t say too much.  My neighbours are like family.  Plus they are very helpful so I don’t make waves.

Eva, glad that the birthday party for Matilda was nice.  Happy Birthday Matilda!!!!

Charlene, a neighbour’s puppy would drive me crazy if they were digging in my flower beds.  That’s just not right.

Gayle, I bought these dollar chandelier lights some years ago.  When I tried to change them, the base just stayed in the socket.  I had to use pliers to turn them and get them out.  Nice that your DB replaced your light bulb.

Hope you all had a nice evening.

Hey Steve, glad that the subject matter was interesting for you to post….cute….lol!

Well I solved all my problems with regards to undies.  I get them when I either visit my sister or she mails them to me from Greece.  They have market days every Thursday.  There you can find anything you want in clothing, and that means underwear as well.  So when I was in Greece last year I picked up more than 25 pairs.  When my niece came to visit me this year, she brought me about 20 more, plus these great cotton t-shirts to wear int he winter under my tops.  These cotton undies are of the finest cotton.  The elastics never wear out, the liners are perfect, and the size is comfortable.  They last for years.  When my mom passed away I took all of her undies, and I still have them….that is 14 years ago.  The cotton is indestructible…..or just about.  To top that, they always have a lace insert on the sides to make them a bit fancy.

You can be sure I won’t need any more for the time being, but if I do, my sister will send them to me….or better still….I’ll go to Greece and get them myself….lol…wishful thinking.  Well it might happen.  My niece is getting married in two years so who knows.

Great pictures everyone.  I haven’t taken any in 2 weeks.  I was supposed to take some while visiting my son and family, but the schedule was just too hectic.  Looks like it will be my regular gang at the feeders.  They’ll have more to chose from as I bought another nyger feeder, plus one that I will stick to the window.

Good morning all!  It feels good to be back. I missed not getting replying to some of your posts.  Yes, I had access to my DS’s computer, but there was just too much going on to post on a regular basis.

When I got home yesterday, boy was I surprised with all the leaves in my backyard.  So looks like I will be busy all week picking them up.  My DGSs are coming over today.  They will most likely do some, but they are so little to do a major job.  I appreciate whatever they do.  I know I’m in no shape to do much today.  I have loads of laundry to do so that will be my job for today.  Plus DD and the boys are coming over so it will impossible to do more.  That’s ok with me….lol

Well gardening season is winding down.  I see that my mums are still blooming.  I have more phlox to cut down, and as for the hostas (the remaining ones), I will follow your suggestion….just leave them to rot.

I see that my bird feeders are half full.  I must have had a lot of activity while away.  Neighbour did say this morning that the squirrels were having a field day while I was gone.  I did buy another feeder, and one that I can stick to the window.  Should be fun to see them during winter months in my computer room window.

Hope you all have a nice day.
