Feeling better. Had a morning and an afternoon nap.  Everything packed.  Kitchen cleaned.  Trash out in the garage.  We are set to go tomorrow at 6:30.

Here’s a bit of spring to cheer those who have yet to see it.

    See ya in May!

Good morning.  The wind and rain that blew through yesterday afternoon has brought in cooler temps.  Only headed into 50ºs today.  39º when I got up.  There’s a heavy mix of clouds our there now with blue patches here and there.  That with the new green of the leaves makes a lovely combination.

Fred – my mower has a cord.  I switch the handle back and forth so the cord is always on the side towards the house and where I’ve already mowed.  My backyard is a thin strip of grass.  Here’s a photo from earlier this spring.

Tigsy – did you see my comment yesterday that I have your address?  I’ll send them once I return from vacation.

When I got my haircut on Tuesday I think I brought home some germs.  Hairdresser said her daughter had intestinal flu.  Well, I think I’ve got a bit of it.  Tummy ache and the runs this morning.  Just what I need before vacation.  Canceled my lunch out plans for today and a workshop later.  I’ll stay put here and recover and not spread the germs.  Dan will be okay – he has an iron gut.

Stewart – aren’t there neighbors you can give the iris to?  Or even at the dump do they have a recycle giveaway spot?  Such lovely flowers shouldn’t just be tossed.  Are your friends still at the campground?  Maybe they’d want them there.

Sherry – how’s your Mom doing?  No more grousing about moving?  Dan’s Mom turned down my help in finding her some place to move to.  She said she’ll investigate on her own.  At least she says she is.

Who did mention lilacs blooming?  I saw some on the roadside in bloom but mine is no where near blooming yet.  Maybe it was Mary?

Saw another hummer this morning.  Goldfinches had been emptying the sunflower feeder.  There were at least 20 there at one time yesterday.

Let me sign off for now.  I’ll check back later.

Wow, Leroy.  When you planted all those tomatoes I thought you were somewhere the frost date had passed by.  Good to get them under cover last night.  We had 39º this morning but my cold weather crops are just fine with that.  I suppose your colder weather is headed our way now.

Tigsy – I do have your address.  I made a note to myself to mail those off to you when I return.  We’ll be gone a week starting on Friday.

Bright blue sky slowly went gray.  then the wind whipped up and sent chars sliding down the length of the deck.  Rain followed but not for long.  I imagine there will be more.  Temps dropped too.

House cleaning done.  Now to start the packing.

Good morning all.  Sun is in my eyes to my left. Sky is blue though the weather report said 80% chance of rain today.  When?  DOn’t know.

If it’s cold with Sherry and raining with Dave I know I must be due to get that here as well.

Used my electric lawnmower yesterday to mow the back yard.  It’s nice and green –  mix of weeds, moss and grass.  Put out the garden art including the statues I’ve collected.  Nice to see those faces in the garden.  There are May apples showing themselves and I see the beginning shoots of Jack in the pulpits through out the glen garden.  I have violas that self seeded in the pathways of the perennial garden that I’m letting be.  Some are blooming too.  When I return from vacation I’ll have to tend to the beds and pathways there.  Hate to do it but will have to tame the black eye susan that loves to spread where I don’t want it to be.

Today I’ll be packing and cleaning the house.  Hate to return to a dirty house after being gone.

As to singing – I frequently have a song in my head (ear worm) but rarely sing it out.  I may whistle it.

Kathy – I have heard of that surgery for the neck but not the back.  Glad it went well for him.

Maxine – good for you getting some gardening in even though its in pots.  Snow gone up there yet?

Sherry – how was the birthday celebration for Mike?

Dave – did you buy anything at the tired iron show?

Fred – how nice to hear that your dad was outside interacting with others.

Time to skeddadle – must get these bones moving.

Tigsy – I gave Dan a set of Laurel & Hardy videos one Christmas.  this one is one of them.  they are two very funny guys.  But that didn’t answer your question as to what the bush was.

Good morning all.  Bright sunlight streaming in here.  Temps have moderated so not as warm as yesterday and Sunday.  I’ll take it though.

Leroy- sorry about your brother.  Good you can go to visit for the last time.

Sherry – cold there.  Must be like what Emily gets in NH.

Dave – I’ve had hummingbird feeder up for a week and had first visitor that I’ve seen yesterday evening while we were eating on the screen porch.  Bird was on deck.  Even the movement of Dan turning around to look didn’t safe the bird away.  Then a friend who lives a mile or so away wrote that she’d seen her first that evening.  I wrote back to say it amy have been the same one I saw just stopping on its way north.

Hair appointment this morning but before I go I need to do the liq fence spraying while the wind is fairly calm.  So let me get dressed to do that.  Check back with you all later.

I put a mouse trap out there but didn’t catch anything yet.  I may plant more peas tomorrow.  May also be too late to do it in the season.

Good evening.  Just finding my way here.  Where did the day go?

We had 2 inches of rain overnight.  Have had a sunny day, warm to the 80s but thunderstorms may be coming by later.  I have heard rumbles and it has darkened for a time.

Been very busy: newsletter, sorting my clothes, laundry, Goodwill to donate clothes, library, shopping, more laundry and then more newsletter.  Awaiting the president of our org. to send his column and one other person owes me an article then I’m done with May until it’s time to collate it on the 5th.

We are getting excited for our vacation trip.  We will overnight in Dayton, OH and Springfield, IL on our way to St. Charles, MO.  Plan to visit Lincoln’s home, grave, library while we are in Springfield.

Brenda – sorry about your wet plantation.  I didn’t dig up the elephant ear last year so doesn’t look like it will recover from the cold it experienced being out in a pot all winter.  I’ll have to buy one to plant there.

Rob – at some point you will be holding an auction at your abode of all the things you collected at other auctions. LOL  How’s your dad?

Kathy – I too don’t recall what surgery your brother is facing.  I hope its going well for him today.

Well must put away the clean clothes and get our dinner salads ready.

    See you tomorrow.

Wilderness – I do see the tunneling.  I think I caught a vole in a mouse trap last month in the garage.  So I placed a mouse trap out near a hole in the soil.  My pea seedlings are just an inch or so high so if the vole is taking the root its taking the whole plant.  I also ordered some repellant from Gardeners Supply that I hope will drive them from the garden.

Where are the owls when you need them?

Good Sunday morning, Stewart, Rob, Sherry, Dave, those who beat me here posting and those who follow.  Bright sunny day here.

Trees are getting that green hint to them.  Other trees that blossom are busting out or about to.  Yesterday was quite a warm one and it made a difference in the growth of everything.

My helper was here and weeded the paths in the veg garden then helped me put down weed block fabric.  We ran short so I’ve placed an order for more.  I’ll do that myself.

We went to the play Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen.  Written in the 1880s it was quite scandalous for its time.  Interesting look back at how life was at that time.  Everyman Theatre where we have subscription tickets always does a nice job.  Afterward we were going to have dinner in Baltimore but both restaurants we checked out that were close to the theatre had only snacks at 4 o’clock so we headed back home and had a nice Italian meal at a local place near where we used to live.

Church this morning then a brunch at friends house.

Robbie – did you go camping this weekend?  Perfect weather for it.

Leann – how;s you mom doing?

    Stewart – enjoy the pamper.

Rob – greetings.  No news of you doings?

Sherry – what do you plant in those pots?

Dave – glad to hear you had a nice birthday.

That;s all from here for today.  Enjoy!

Whatever it is, is coming from underneath.  Deer can’t come in.  I’ve never seen a squirrel bother to climb the fence – too busy under the bird feeder.  Groundhogs would make a big hole to get in under the fence and they’d eat the tops only.

    I need to research voles.

I’m back.  Waiting on the arrival of a high schooler who is dedicated to give me two hours of work. We will weed the pathways in the veg garden and put down weed barrier.  Then work on the fence if there’s still time.

Mulch is looking good.  Photos on the blog.

    Must go.  Good Saturday all.
