Good morning.  Sun is bright here on this morning.  Dew is heavy on every leaf.  We had rain yesterday afternoon enough to fill the pond.

Stewart – yes, a sad day but we are still together.  It would be hard to give up the friends made here.  I’m willing to stick it out.  I hope the newest among us will too: Marge, Leroy, Leann and maybe we’ll get some new folks to join.  I don’t see myself joining in the other threads at this point.

Marge – you asked for a photo of the hutch.  Here it is:

I describe my search for it on my blog.

Fred – I feel like I’ve got some iris appearing that I didn’t have before.  Do they morph? Take this one.  I don’t remember it from last year.  It’s the only two tone one I have.  I know I had more but now there are solid colors ones there instead.  Curious.  Maybe its just my memory.  I should go back through my blog and see what I posted in earlier years.

Must make Dan’s lunch and our breakfast.  I hope others find us here.  Hang in there.

Well I guess it’s back to Garden Chat we go if we can keep it up.  Sherry can you email Stewart? It was so nice to be here.  I’m afraid being with Garden Chat we will be lost again.  Is it even worth the effort?

Well what a can of worms.  Just as we were settling in well here without the distractions of all the other postings.  Who has Stewart’s email to tell him?

Good morning all.  Overcast here but only a chance of thunderstorms later today.  High in the 80s they say.

It’s good planting weather.  I need to get the peppers in the ground this morning.  I’ll have to harvest most of my lettuce and bok choy to get other veggies planted as well.  Will work that out once I get out there.

Brenda – I know for my blog I can upload photos directly from my computer.  For here they have to be online somewhere to post them.  Shutterfly doesn’t work but Photobucket does.  I rarely use the latter so the photos I post here come from what I’ve posted on the blog which of course are now online.  It is a pain.

Marge – sorry about your change in gardening plans.  Hope the smaller bed works out for you.  I’ll take photos of the hutch and post on the blog for you to see.  I am really pleased with how it looks. I like that it was made in America.  I’d been looking in antique stores for years for this piece, unsuccessfully.

Have we heard from Leann and how she’s doing in this flooding?

Dan had to leave early this morning for an 8 o’clock meeting so my day is earlier.  Must make use of it while the temps are cooler.

    Cheers!

Marge – the hutch did come.  It’s sitting in the garage right now waiting for Dan to use the hand truck to wheel it to the porch.  I’ll take some photos.

Mary – that’s neat that the cranes fly with the ultralight through KY.  Amazing story of recovery from the edge of extinction.

Morning all.  Sun is bright here.  I feel bad for those of you in the flood areas and all that rain.

Saw Fred’s post of yesterday.  Wow! Fred – you are going to be knee deep in planting for awhile.

Marge – what happened with your garden plan that you are having to redo it?

Hutch that I thought was to arrive on Friday is coming between 11-3 today.  Laundry is going.  Have my list of things to do which includes planting the peppers.  First I’ve got to move these bones and exercise.  I think I’ll do the walking dvd if nothing good on TV.

    See ya later.

oh, check out my photos and post on the whooping cranes here.

Good morning.  Started to post then stopped to show Dan something then accidentally closed Safari.

Anyway, been up early getting read yfor youngest sister to visit.

We learned a lot about whooping cranes yesterday.  Only saw two though.  The others are nesting and can’t be disturbed and the young hatchlings are no exposed to humans at all.  When volunteers go in they dress as cranes!

Thank you to our fallen heroes who have sacrificed to keep our country free.

    Have a good day all.

Good morning.  Bright blue day!  Temps nice too.

We are off to church in a bit then meeting friends to go see the whooping cranes at the Putuxent Wildlife Refuge.  These are the cranes that were almost wiped out but flocks brought back by careful management.

Mary – Sherry posted the lovely photo!  It’s from her visit to her cousin.

Stewart – safe travels back to France.  Did you stay with Graham again?  You made no mention of him.

Tigsy – how are the walking onions doing?  Did you get to sleep though I see you posted again at 7 am.  maybe you didn’t.  No sons coming to keep you company?

Sarah and William are backpacking this weekend.  Today is their last day of hiking 10 miles back to their car.  From there in the Shenandoah National Park they’ll go to Woodstock, VA to visit Dan’s mom overnight.  She wouldn’t come to Sarah’s graduation.

Kathy – hope your party went well.  A bit soggy there?  Are you in the worst of the flooding?

Leann – you doing okay with all the rain?

Dave – are you in flooding too?

Have a good Sunday.  I’ll share photos of the cranes if I manage to get any.

Here’s a water photo for you: pond outside my study window:

    Good morning.

Dan and I were up and out early.  Went to Einsteins for bagels and then to Home Depot.  Dan has cut some tree branches for me that were shading the arbor too much.  Now I’m off to paint the seats and back of the benches on the deck.  Didn’t get to it yesterday.  Too windy.

Tigsy – Dan isn’t much of a fish eater either.  He does like shrimp and crab.  And will eat fish and chips.  I had lox and bagel this morning.  He could barely look at it.

Sherry – glad to hear you had a good time. Snow in Timmins.  Wow.  I guess Maxine in Alberta is still contending with that.

Stewart – what a nice day you have planned.

Brenda – you are right about Memorial Day.

Mary – jus tfinished a really good book.  Since you like Downton Abbey you’d like reading this: Longbourn by Jo Baker.  It’s the downstairs story (servants) of Pride and Prejudice.

    Must get back to work.

    Afternoon.

Surprised to see Red here.  That makes three Texans!  Wow!

Well, trucking company called this morning and hutch will be delivered on Tuesday.  So I went out to do errands and just now got home.  Thinking about painting the benches around the fire pit or at least the seats and backs.

Tigsy – sorry your on your own this weekend.  Enjoy the seafood.  Is DH still teaching or did he finally retire?

Leann – nice to see the hummers.  The one I had coming by seems to be scarce now.  Not much depleted from feeder.

It’s a lovely day here.  I think I’ll sit for a bit before tackling another chore.

Good morning, Stewart & Dave and the rest who post later.  Beautiful blue sky this morning.  All the plants are happy after the gentle rains yesterday.  Looks to be a nice weekend too.

Hutch that I ordered from ebay is to be delivered today.  Must then head over to hardware store to pick up 1/4 in hardware cloth.  Will be using that next week to keep the ground hogs out from under the deck.  Handyman Bill is coming to do that for me.  I will help him.

TOmatoes all planted but one.  No room for that one.  Did it on Wednesday.  I guess I mentioned that already.

Not much else happening of note.

    Happy Friday!

Good morning.  Rain here and cool today.

I’ve been here on this computer since waking with only a break for breakfast and making Dan’s lunch.  Had to finish the newsletter then had other emails to send.  Busy morning.

Making up the grocery list I decided that if my youngest sister and daily were coming on Monday I needed to know so I called her.  All 4 of them are coming plus a classmate of their oldest.  SO there will be 7 of us here for Memorial Day.

Leroy – didn’t realize carpal tunnel surgery was so simple.  I imagine you have that trouble from your job?

Marge – Sherry is visiting her cousin and will return Saturday I think.  Yes, it’s cold out there and I did plant my tomatoes.  Need to see what temps will be tonight because they may need covering.

    Kathy – you okay?

Robbie – camping this weekend?  How is that knee?

Must get myself presentable to go out to deliver newsletter to printer and then on to other stops.

Where has the morning gotten to?

Kathy – yes, a miracle.  And where were you that you saw that happening? No storm cellar to take cover in?

My sister cam this afternoon to get the tent.  She didn’t stay long.

I planted my tomatoes this morning, vole proofed the 4 smallest raised beds, mowed the lawn and after sister left sprayed Liquid Fence.  Been working on the newsletter.  Deadline is tonight.

Now must think about what’s for dinner.  I think I may try to make up my own shrimp scampi recipe.  See you tomorrow.  It’s to be only in the 50s then!  Brr.

Good morning. Sun is just peeking over the top of the trees.  A new day is beginning.

My sister wants to borrow our tent again.  This time she’s coming here for it.  Was to be yesterday then she called to say she forgot about a commitment.  Supposed to be today. We’ll see what else she forgot.  I will not deliver it to her!

When she canceled out yesterday I decided to do errands instead of gardening.  Too hot and muggy to be toiling with dirt and besides soil would have been compacted if I worked with it after that rain.  Now this morning weather is delightful.  Dropped into the 50s last night.  Better temps for gardening.

Don’t you hate it when folks don’t return phone calls or emails?  I have at least 4 hanging out there.  One is for the hutch I ordered, another is for the house we booked for August vacation, another is an advertiser for the newsletter, and the last is my youngest sister!  Grr.

Chickadees are busy with babies in the birdhouse.  So are the the bluebirds.  DOn’t know if the wren found a mate and is nesting in the other hanging birdhouse.

Marge – I made grilled bok choy last night with a recipe I found on pinterest. It was okay.  I plan to give some away to my sister if she shows up also a friend I’ll see on Sunday.

    That’s all from here.
