Time for some lunch.  Roused myself after having a second cup of tea and went out to do more work in the perennial beds.  I did 4 today, 2 yesterday, so 2 more to go.  Each is a triangle.  Not as many weeds in the ones today.  Lots to cut down though.

Debated digging up the stella d’oro day lilies to divide them.  I don’t remember many blooms on them this year but it may have happened while we were away in June.  Then again they are to bloom continuously and they didn’t.  May have to pose that question on the board.

Know why I was dragging this morning – headache had bloomed.

Good morning.  Gray one here.  Goes with how I feel.  Couldn’t get out of bed this morning.  Dragging myself along.

We had rain last night.  Thunderstorm went by.  Everything is dripping wet.  Should be good for pulling weeds. May or may not get to that today.

Sending my camera off to be repaired.  Bummer not to have it working.

Stewart – sounds like you have a plan.  All you can do is work it to fruition.  Good luck.

    ta ta.

Here’s something strange.  Posted above then went to read some other threads and discovered I was logged out.  Huh?  Had to log back in.

Good morning, Stewart.  Still dark out there so can’t say what kind of day it is.

Woke at 5 and couldn’t fall back to sleep so gave up and got up.  Been doing the end of month bookkeeping and now reading blogs and posting here.

Never did get out to veg garden yesterday.  It was a misty sort of day so its just as well that I stuck to inside tasks and the laundry – all of which did get accomplished.

Fred – glad to see you made it back without mishap from the lake.  Wasn’t your last trip there when your dad fell?  Is he improving?

Brenda – Is Katie headed to New England as a leaf peeper?  I hear from Emily that leaves are at their peek.  Her in laws are visiting there now.  It’s a long trip for them from GA.

Tigsy – the cleaning out is never ending at your house.  Has DH announced his retirement yet?

Must think about making breakfast and Dan’s lunch.  Have a good one.

Monday is salad night here.  Lettuce came from the garden, also a small zucchini and pepper.  Added sliced onion and feta cheese. Dressing was poppy seed.  Leftover turkey peccadillo on the side.  We add crunchy onions on top of it all.  Had cider with that.

Good morning Potting Shed friends.  Cool start to this day.  Seems to be the norm now that its fall.  Some mixed clouds out there.

First load of laundry is in.  Many more to do.  I try to do it all in one day.  Plan to do some housecleaning – my favorite thing to do!  Not!  Plan to finish the vegetable garden.  The beds that were emptied of plants were loaded down with new compost on Saturday.  I didn’t tackle the weeds in the pathways so that’s what needs doing.  I’d like to plant some Chinese cabbage, bok choy and tatsoi but too late for seeds.  I’ll have to find plants on sale somewhere.  Tatsoi will be hard to find.

Dave – sounds like you’re on vacation there in Florida.  Enjoy!

Sherry – I bet your pleased that Katie is trained now.

Stewart – sounds like life is good there in England for you right now.  So we may expect Wendy to sign in here and say hello?  It’s been a long while.  Love to hear from her again.

Time to finish my cup of tea and get busy with the cleaning list.

    Take care friends.

Worked in the garden until 2.  Didn’t finish but I was done in and needed some lunch.  Picked lots of peppers, the last of the cucumbers, some zucchini, and all the Juliette tomatoes.  Those plants are now gone except for the zucchini which for once didn’t succumb to the borers and is flowering and producing still.  I gave some of that bounty to Sarah and William who stopped here between the florist and the caterer appointments.  I have frozen lots of peppers.  Now I have to remember they are there come winter time. LOL

Marg – you asked what’s still producing: I have lettuce and now the snow peas are flowering.  My garlic order is on its way to me so that will go in soon.  The pathways need a good weeding.  I cleaned out the compost bin and put it all into the beds.  I may get composted manure too and add that.

Stewart – those little memory sticks are called thumb drives.  You put them in where you would plug in your printer connection.  An icon will show on your laptop screen and then to save to it you drag what file you want to save to the icon.  To remove it, drag the icon to trash and it will eject it.

Good morning.  Looks like I’m not the only lazy one.   Cool morning here though its mid-morning already.

Been booking a trip to Missouri through Roads Scholar which used to be called Elderhostel.  It’s a history trip focusing on Mark Twain, Lewis & Clark and the Civil War.  5 days.  We’ll drive there and back in late April of next year.

Must get out to the veg garden today!  Take care.

Dave – smile faces generated by the punctuation you use.  A colon :  and a parentheses ) will make smile face once you post.  :)

I take that back.  It didn’t work.  Hmm.

Good morning.  Nice bright clear day here.  Rain was refreshing yesterday.

Had a nice visit with friends and lunch and window shopping in Frederick.  Well, we did go in stores but I didn’t buy anything.  Too soon to think of Christmas now.  May go back another time because there are some interesting shops there.

Today is the anniversary of my Mom’s death.  1 year.  Wow.  I’m meeting my oder sister in York and we are driving to Strasburg to visit the cemetery then have lunch.  It’s about 1.75 hrs from here.

Tigsy – nice to have the young ones home.  Sarah and William will be here.  Sarah tonight and William Saturday.  They have two wedding appointments tomorrow and then premarital counseling with their pastor on Sunday night.

Robbie – nice weather for camping.

Brenda – glad to hear you are having the  cool temps for a change.

Stewart – sounds like your car will be quite a work of art once its all done.

    Still no word from Kathy?

Sherry – you have been busy.  I forgot that you were resettling your mom.  That is time consuming.

Things to do before I depart this morning so best get to them.

Good morning.  Pouring rain here all night to continue through the morning.  We need it too.

Can’t linger.  Heading west to Fredrick to meet friend with another friend doing the driving.  Hoping she’ll pick me up because of the boo boo on my car.

    Enjoy the day.

Gayle – here are my phlox back in August.  They’re done now and cut back.

Here are more in the perennial garden.  That garden needs to be cut back now too for winter.

Day lily time is long over too.  Nice to have memories.

Good morning, Stewart & Dave.  Welcome back Stewart.  I thought it was a matter of not having a computer that was keeping you away.  Neat to have that classic car in running order.

It’s a very cloudy day here and I hope the forecast is correct when they say rain.  I spent the morning yesterday finishing the weeding and cut back of the pond garden.  A good way to start the fall and winter.  I had intended to continue today on the veg garden but am feeling the exertion from yesterday so will take a break.

Tractor pulling a bush hog just went by.  The natural gas underground pipeline that runs along the northern border of our property has to be kept mown so that when the helicopters go over once a month they can see clearly to check for leaks.  Last year they trimmed the trees way back.

Tigsy  - I think you’ve read some of Jo-Ann Mapson’s books. (Finding Casey, etc)  I just finished another one, Owen’s Daughter.  Not as good as the first two.  She tried to connect to the previous two and ends up rehashing too much.  Then there are too many coincidences and she wraps it up way to fast.  It’s like she realized she was getting too long and decided quickly what the end should be.  Finally there’s too detailed description of elements inappropriate to the story line.  Parts of the story are left hanging so I guess she’s setting it up for another one.  I think I’ll skip it when she does get it published.  What are you reading these days?

Not even dressed yet.  That’s how dragging I feel.  Check back later.
