Good morning to you as well, Steve.  Enjoy that sunshine….I sure hope we get to see it someday.  Too bad you have to work, but many of us are cursed with that….gotta keep the wolves from the door, don’t we?  Charlene
Molly or anyone who knows, does the shade cloth restrict the vents from opening or air flow through them?……
I’m not Molly….but I know you can buy a “special made” shade cloth for your style of GH and pay good money for it….OR…..you can just get the size you need and cut slits the size of your vents, so they are free to open.  Just make a slice around the sides and bottom….they are then able to open and close easily and the rest of the GH is shaded.  Charlene

From what I have heard….the amount of quinine you get in tonic water will not hurt a person, but the concentrated quinine pills that people took (and many took them more than needed) is what causes the other problems.  If a few sips of tonic water stops the leg cramps, I’d say go for it.  Like everything else….in moderation.  Charlene

Stella…..I wouldn’t cut them off.  I have a question for you?….what direction does your kitchen window face?  The tall zinnias that I have started are in a south window and seem to be growing fine…..like me, they would like a bit more sunshine.  Charlene

I have never grown them, but I had the same thing happen with Yellow Flax,Sonaria Vaccaria and Baptisa….I often preach about being patient, but have learned that I need to practice what I preach.  I was able to save some of each mentioned….and hope they do well for me.  I also hope your plants do well for you!  Charlene

    Rosa chinensis Angel Wings

Sweetly scented double and semi-double blooms open in shades of deep rose, light pink, and creamy white. Easy to grow from seed, Angel Wings blooms in 3-4 months on 12 -18 inch stems. Ideal for containers or front of the border in full sun and well drained soil, this rose variety is hardy to zone 5.
can’t grow roses but these can be grown in pots and would be pretty in the shop window in the winter.
LOL….My shop window is usually only a couple degrees warmer than outside temps in the winter….except if the sun shines….and then it is hot enough in there to melt an artificial Christmas trees’ plastic trunk…..it has actually done that!

IF I start them from seed and plant them in my sheltered zone 5 bed, I may be able to grow them….but it will have to go on my list for next year.  I am afraid I have way more plants than I need or have room for this year…..thus all the containers.  Charlene

There is so much poverty in Mexico….how admirable for your DD and spouse to do that.  When I used to vacation for 1 week each winter in Mexico, I always took 1 suitcase full of school supplies, toiletries, etc for the poor children there.  Visiting their schools was a real education for me!  Charlene

I know because I grow that plant every year…..mine are Tri-color Chrysanthemum.

BUT…..if I remember right, Del got this variety….and I am guessing that these are what you are growing, Leroy!

You will love them!  They do good in bouquets, and the more you pick them the more they bloom.  Charlene

Lair….your Amaryllis and Bird of Paradis are beautiful as always!

Leroy….you sure are doing well with your seedlings and cuttings.  Mine are looking healthy (most of them) but nothing blooming yet.

Ili….that is very pretty.  Maybe as the bloom opens more it will turn more coral color.

Gitti….good for you!  Isn’t it fun to see those pretty crocus knowing that other blooming plants will soon be opening.  Charlene
but they are ugly!
The closeup photos make them look ugly, but the plant overall is gorgeous….bright red and deep purple…..and they don’t go in the house….they prefer to be outdoors…..lol.  Charlene

Gayle….love your daffodils!  I can hardly wait to see mine in bloom.

Alma….the snowball bush picture that I share is on a plant that Ga Girls Flowers from this board shared with me….it is about 6 inches right now…..lol.

Lair….when it is fit i am going to plant it outdoors.  This fall I will try to take a cutting for you.  The leaves are way different than the snowball bushes that I see growing in my zone so I fear it may be a variety not suitable for zone 4….but I am sure gonna give it a try!

Molly….that Jasmine is beautiful….well worth the wait.  Charlene
