This guy was hanging out in a geranium in the rain this morning.  He is not as pretty as a butterfly or a hummer, but he is easier to photograph because he doesn’t flutter his wings nor fly away….lol.  Charlene

Good morning everyone…..it is raining here!  YAAAYYYY….but it is comfortable on the front porch for coffee.  It has been raining off and on since 2am.  I’m not sure how much we’ve accumulated, but every drop is welcome.

DH is off today, Sat, & Sun.  He has been entertaining a cold for over a week.  The way he acts and sounds now, I think it may have turned to bronchitis or pneumonia.  I’ve tried over and over to get him to go to a DR, but he never listens to me.

Molly….glad you are adjusting to retired life.  There is no set bedtime for you, so just do as you please.

Wendy….glad things are going well at work.  Nice that you can keep your same merits and pay scale.  It would be tough to have to start at the bottom and do the climb up again.

Leslie…more rain?  It seems like you are getting rain every time you turn around.  That is good for some things, but bad for you to enjoy time in your gardens.

Del….I hope your friend comes so you can enjoy your day off.  It sounds like you’ve got alot of work planned.  I used to often takes bedspreads and heavier things to the laundromat here.  Now it is closed, so that is not an option.  Someone recently purchased it, so maybe it will soon be opening again.  I ave used red peppers for stuffed peppers before.

Jan….sounds like your DD and kids are living with you?  I bet that makes life a little different.

Have a great Friday everyone….just work for me today.  Charlene

Stella….will you please just relax and enjoy your beautiful flower?  We don’t all have our hearts set on seeds from you….we just said that if you had extra, we would be happy to take them off your hands….lol.  I have a neighbor with 2 rose of Sharon and I have yet to find a seed on either plant.  Charlene

It looks good, Gayle, but there is WAY TOO MUCH barren area….for sure you could plants at least 2 to 3 dozen annuals in there next Spring.  Flowers are so much prettier than mulch!  LOL  Charlene

I have been absent for the day, so I just read your post on the VIP, Karen…..I was feeling so bad for you, but cheering for your DH at the same time.

I was happy to read here that things have turned around for you as the day progressed.  Next Wed does seem like a long way away, but if the pain meds help make you comforatable it will be here before you know it.

I can’t give you any advice on pain pills…..I think the last and only time I took one is when I had 18 teeth pulled in 1972….and I for sure do not remember what kind it was….lol….I was only 18 yrs old then.

Please keep us informed when you can, Karen….you know we are all pulling for you!  Charlene

I am thinking that my magellan and profusion zinnias are behaving as great fall flowers.  They have bloomed profusely all summer and just seem to keep on going.  The heat was hard on my mums this year, so I don’t think they will be as pretty as usual.  Charlene

Good morning everyone.  Kathy, so sorry that you can’t sleep….BTDT, and it isn’t fun.

We are starting our day at a comfortable 63º, but they threaten temps close to mid 90s again.  I was hoping those temps were behind us.  Oh well, I guess it is August. The rain circled around us once again, so I imagine I will have to continue the watering routine this evening.

Today is the 1st day of school here…..I love watching the little kids all dressed in new clothes, shoes, and backpacks walking to school.  The elementary school is accross the street from us, so the ones that walk all go by here.

Have a great Thursday everyone.  Charlene

Brenda….not sure if you saw the beehive in my yard earlier this Spring…..It was one of the most fascinating things I have ever experienced.  It was only there about 48 hours while “the scouts” were looking for a new place to locate.  I was sad to see them go, but I know they aren’t far from here because they are humming around my yard and tasting my flowers all the time.

Mine bloomed the 1st year…..I just started it this past Feb from seed on the seed train from Molly.  I for sure will save seed….and maybe try a couple cuttings….from what I read this plant is not a happy camper in my winters….lol.  It is very pretty and I am really enjoying mine.  Charlene

Kathy….my zinnias like that have decided that they want to be tall…..this pic was taken a month ago.  I guess they aren’t alot taller now, but they certainly are bushing out and being pretty….no sign of powdery mildew so far.  Charlene

We all know that it is more blessed to give than to receive…..but isn’t it fun to be on the receiving end once in a while?  Good for you, Del!  My sister brought me a huge bouquet of dahlias today and I almost cried.  I give people bouquets of flowers all the time, but rarely get any in return!  Charlene

Stella….I certainly wasn’t making fun of you and the earwigs…..I am plagued with them as well….and they can cause alot of destruction to plants.

I am thinking that your plant may be a Rose of Sharon…..I don’t know where the seeds are on them.  Charlene

Steve….those are some healthy looking and pretty impatiens!

Gayle….I am growing Moonflower also this year…..I got the seed from Stanette….they are pretty….but don’t smoke them…..lol.

Molly…..I have enjoyed seeing many Anemones on this thread.  I don’t know why I thought they were Spring bloomers.

Eva….I think you got some pretty plants the other day.  The Diamond Frost Euphorbia also will root out in a cup of water…..I have several this year from a plant I originally purchasd 3 yrs ago.

Sandy….what a nice gift you have there!  I’m guessing it is some kind of Rudbeckia….very pretty no matter what it is.

Here is a grouping of plants on my front porch:

Good morning everyone.  It is a bit warmer this morning than it has been the past few mornings….58º.  I have already enjoyed a couple cups of coffee on the porch and watched 3 busy little hummingbirds at my Trumpet vine, Abutilon, and Delosperma vine.  I went and got the camera and they disappeared….lol.

We are to have weather in the mid 80s during the day and mid 60s at night for the next week.  There is actually a slight chance of rain today, tonight, and tomorrow, so I hope we get something out of it.

Some of you that have been here for a while remember that I used to vacation one week every February in Mexico.  I haven’t gone there in a few years, but last night in my dream, I was walking on the beach in Guayabitos, Mexico.  What a pleasant dream that was……I woke with a smile on my face.

    Adios, mi amigos…..hasta luego!  Charlene
