Good evening….I was here earlier, but got a couple of phone calls….and now I am back.

Stella…..your posts make me laugh every time I read them!  I wish we could go shopping together sometime.  I am not a shopper, but I can convince anyone that I am shopping with to purchase things they would not otherwise buy…..although it sounds like you don’t need much encouragement….lol.  Sounds like you made some good purchases.  I believe that Sweet Pea is the same one I got from my Mom years ago…..mine is a bright pink!

I see there is a new “Castle” on tonight so I will watch that later and then crawl into bed to watch the news and Jay Leno.  Charlene

Good morning everyone….I am only 1 degree colder than Molly right now….we have 31º.  I awoke to the sander at 5am.  Then it was too dark to see what had happened outside, but I just stepped out a few minutes ago and there is a layer of ice everywhere with a sciff of snow on top of it.  I may not be going anywhere today….sounds like a good day to bake cookies or something.  Planning on oven fried chicken for supper, so I need to get that soaking in the buttermilk.

Sounds like you ladies all have a full day planned. Molly….you sure have been getting lots of rain, haven’t you?  This time of year, I’d rather have snow here, but my vote doesn’t count….we get what we get.

Bette….my cuttings are doing okay, but I am not having the greast germination rate this year…..not sure if it is me or the seeds.  I am guessing Trouble must have come back since you are needing to get him food.

Del….that apricot loin sounds so good…..and I’m not even a big apricot fan.  How did your supper for Nathan and family turn out last night?

Continued prayers for Karen’s Mom…..Have a great Sunday everyone.  Charlene

There sure are some beautiful flowers here….thanks for sharing everyone.

Ili…..it is good to see you back.  I wondered where you were.  I have noticed that MDgreenery has not been posting lately.  I miss her and her pretty pictures.  Hope all is well with her.

How fun to see something outside growing this time of year!  I have never grown the primroses, but I always admire them when others show pictures here.  I did not know that any of them were scented.  Charlene

Leroy…..DDIL gave me the Crossandra from her Grandpa’s funeral in Sept of 2011.  I kept it indoors over the winter, but after all danger of frost last Spring, I put it on the north side of our house.  It did quite well there.  It is now indoors again, but in a few weeks I will need to transplant it and I will take it outdoors again….in the shaded area again.  I don’t think they would tolerate much sun.  Charlene

I have also grown the Blue Lobellia Regatta and they seemed to stand up to the intense heat we had last summer.

Wanda….love your tippy pots!  I have a couple different shades of blue Regatta Lobelia

This has the deeper blue….pic is sorta dark, but it is the plant underneath

    this is the lighter blue

guess this container shows the 2 together

It is 37º and raining here…..yuck!  It is supposed to turn to snow sometime tonight.  Won’t that be a lovely mess to wake up to tomorrow?  Good thing I remembered to get some salt yesterday.

I have just been doing housework and messing with plants and seedlings today.  Did some cleaning in the basement and found a few things that I have been searching for.  I have no idea why I carried them down there.  We’ve got a good supper planned and that will go in the oven soon.

I have just stayed in my fleeces today….sorta nice to do that once in awhile.  Charlene

Ili….I got mine at the dump’s compost pile one fall….someone had thrown it away!  When mine blooms in the winter it is a little different color than it is in summer…..maybe because of less powerful sun rays and less daylight hours.  Charlene

Oven fried buttermilk chicken with dressing, mashed potaoes, and gravy.  Brownie with ice cream for dessert.  I made DH’s favorite as an early valentines day present.  Charlene

Del. I let the chicken pieces soak all day in buttermilk.  Then take them out and let the buttermilk drip off.  Roll the chicken in flour and desired seasoning and place on a cookie sheet in a 350º oven….skin side down.  Let bake for 30 to 40 minutes and then turn and let it bake for another 30 to 40 minutes….depending on size of chicken.  For gravy I use 1 can cream of chicken soup, the buttermilk that the chicken soaked in and drippings from the cookie sheet.  Charlene

So many pretty flowers here this weekend…..orange really is a cheerful color, isn’t it?  Thanks to all of you.

I was hoping MDgreenery would show up with some pics….and I think Gayle may post some after she returns home……so be sure to check back for them or others that may still share.  Thank you everyone.  Charlene

Good morning everyone.  It is 24º with a cold wind this morning.  They had promised us sunshine, but I guess the sun didn’t get that memo…..lol.  It is supposed to start raining later today and then turn to an icy mess.  UGH  I’d rather have snow.

Molly….I hope they do postpone that sale.  You’d be so cold and people are less apt to come out if the weather is nasty.

Del….instead of cook for godson and family, you should teach them how to make the dish.  If it is their favorite, they should know how to cook it.

Bette….glad you didn’t get more snow than you did.  I know you still have blowing and moving to do, but it is easier to handle 6 inches rather than a couple of feet.

Sandy….I bet it is pretty there.  Get those girls “fuled up” with a good breakfast so they will be lots of help to you moving snow.

I am going into work a little before 9 and hope to be out of there by noon.  Need to go get groceries and do a couple other errands that I can’t do tomorrow because the stores will be closed on Sunday.

Have a great day everyone.  Charlene

Linda….I had to do a google search and find out about this lobelia.  One of the articles I found was from your paper….lol.  Here is another I found.  It sure is a pretty lobelia.  Here is what I found:

Earlier this month, Florensis (Netherlands) claimed at the European Flower Trials to introduce a totally new concept of lobelia with the series Hot Springs. The new lobelias combine heat tolerance with a compact bowl-shape plant habit. The three colours match well in timing and plant habit, only the dark blue is more compact. According to Florensis the plants will be totally covert with a mass of flowers which make them look like coloured balls.
BallFloraPlant, the company which supplies the US-market with Hot Springs adds to this description that mixing the colours brings a great-looking monoculture basket. The compact habit allows for pot-tight production with minimal PGRs. Furthermore BallFloraPlant emphasizes that the series can be grown cool for energy savings, but performs beautifully in heat. In the US the series includes four colours: White, Dark Blue, Sky Blue and Lavender Pink.

Steve….some people would laugh at you because a few little green sprouts in some dirt make you excited….but we would NEVER do that because we are all in the same boat….lol.  Charlene
