LOL….Steve that is a beautiful vinca….I am laughing because I ALWAYS do that.  I have a flower start to bloom, so I take a picture to share because I think it is so pretty.  THEN….a few days later I look at it…and it is even prettier than before….and then a few days later….you know what I mean.  I think it is a part of appreciating the beauty of our flowers and just taking time to enjoy them.  I will post a pic tomorrow….right now I need to get to bed because I am working in the morning….Charlene

Kathy….I saw the 10pm weather and your area is in the “rain” part of the map.  I sure hope you get some….and we also have chances of “scattered showers” tomorrow afternoon.  That usually amounts to sweat dripping off of birds flying over….lol.  Charlene
I’ve read that they reseed often
LOL…i can tell you more about that next year.  In my zone many plants do not reseed.  I do not recall Hopscotch saying anything about his reseeding themselves.  I also agree that they are keepers in any annual garden or for filler and borders in other gardens as well. Charlene

We have lots of ferns…not sure what they are called.  They are pretty and growing everywhere in the Spring….like Bette said…even places I don’t want them.  Once it gets hot and they start to turn brown….I cut them back to the ground.  They always seem to come back and put on another green performance before frost.  Charlene

I actually ordered the seed after seeing Leroy’s pics last year.  The seed catalog say 8 to 10 inches tall border plants….and that is about what mine are.  I do love them because they keep blooming inspite of heat and drought.  They are a positive addition to my garden and I will save seed and grow them again.  Charlene

Gary….you are getting CRS BAD!  A couple of weeks ago I shared these pics of my poppies….and asked who wanted seeds….you said that you did….so I mailed them to you.  Here are what they look like.

LOL….that is a good idea, Molly.  I wonder though….since I am always barefoot when walking around outside….will my feet be green as well?  Thanks for thinking of me!  Charlene

I am glad to hear that all went well and that you had fun and good food.

Bette…when I was hired to cater at a Country club in 1993….I was in a tizzy.  All of the rich people that were members there always ate in fancy restaurants…and I am not a “fancy” cook.  I finally decided that since they ate out all of the time….maybe they were craving down-home cooking like Mom used to make.  I was right!  The men fondered themselves every week on foods like Norwegian meatballs, ribs in kraut…etc.  They really liked real mashed potaotes….I peeled 50 pounds of potatoes every Tuesday and Thursday. The woman’s favorite was scalloped chicken.  Homemade cakes and desserts were popular with the women and men as well.

I worked there for 8 years until I finally realized that I was too old to work 2 fulltime jobs.

I guess i failed to tell you all that my sister is 78 years old….and has some huge gardens….both vegetable and flower.  she always enters open class at the fair and is also on the fair board so she works several days there.

I guess I should say that she is 78 years YOUNG….lol.  Molly and Kathy got to meet her and see her gardens.Charlene

Good morning everyone.  It is a beautiful morning and supposed to be a bearable summer day.  I am hoping for rain, but none in the forecast.  Last night was a comfortable night for sleeping.

I am jealous of all of you with the day off……”poor Charlene has to work today”….lol.  Actually. I sorta enjoy my Fridays because I just do lots of odds and ends.  That makes the day go by fast.

My sister called me yesterday to report her winnings from the fair.  I had given her lots of annuals this spring.  She said that she got blue ribbons on the Crego Asters and Cactus Dahlias….and she got Grand Champion (purple) on her Bells of Ireland arrangement.  Those were all annuals that I shared from seed with her.  She was happy.

Have a great Friday everyone….take time to smell the flowers….and don’t forget to have some fun!  Charlene

Charlene if I set some out this late would they come back next spring ?
Yes, Steve….as long as you keep them watered and get them established this year, they should come back next Spring and reward you with blooms….provided the #%@* voles don’t find them!

I do not have your address…..pm it to me and I would happily share with you!  Charlene

Laurine….please tell you DH happy brithday from me!  What a wonderful milestone that is.  You are a lovely couple….and your DGD really reminds me of my neice.  I don’t have a pic of my niece, but she and my daughter resemble one another.  I’ll see if I can find a pic somewhere of my DD.

Thanks for sharing your good news and happy times!  Charlene
