Aleida….I have no experience with Rose of Sharon, but I recall someone else on this board having a similar problem to yours.  She discovered that the buds were being feasted upon at night by earwigs.  Could that be a possibility in your area?  I know earwigs ate many of my plants this year.  Charlene

Thanks, Gayle.  I haven’t heard anything and don’t do Facebook, so I’ve been curious.  Tim said she would call later.  I believe Flower hospital is the one closer to her home where she hoped to have the surgery but couldn’t.  Once she is transferred she will probably be able to have her cell phone and possibly her laptop, so hopefully we will then be able to get info from “the horses mouth”.  Charlene

Very lovely flowers and pics this morning….Jane, those hummer shots are fantastic!  My hummers are camera shy, and I am not the world’s greatest photographer.

I guess this is the time of year when we all realize why we grow Buddleia….and we also know why it is nicknamed Butterfly bush….mine have been like Grand Central Station lately:

Posy….here is a pic of white lavatera.  If this is what the plant is, it is an annual for me.

Good morning everyone….nice to see Rob and Jane on the patio with us this morning.  It is so beautiful outside this morning it is hard to imagine what is right around the corner!

We had a great day with Lair & Tim yesterday.  Lots of driving, but well worth it.  Lair’s gardens look very good considering the drought he’s had and the Japanese beetles that are still infesting his yard.  I am sure glad we don’t have them here and hope they never make it this far north.  We had a wonderful steak last night….surrounded by lots of his garden produce.  My stomach was so full that it was hard to stay awake on the way home…..lol.  I did manage to fight sleep until about 10 miles east of home….then DH said, you can sleep if you’re tired…..lol.

Not sure what my plans are for today.  We need to get the mattress that we got from Lair upstairs and I know I need to do alot of watering since I did noe yesterday….other than that, I may just enjoy the beautiful fall day.

    Have a great day everyone….

Wendy, I’m betting that your tomato area will have lots of pretty flowers next year…..no need for too much grass….lol.  Charlene

Del….I’m glad that you got the basket you wanted….and at a very reasonable price!  When you think of it, the 4 healthy plants are certainly worht $2.50 each.  I hope you can keep them over the winter because you have the perfect spot there on your porch!  Charlene

Steve….what a great cardinal climber!  Gayle…good looking begonias and angel wing.  Ili…..I also was able to see and enjoyed the moon last night before retiring.

MMarnee….love all of the dahlia pics….BTW….where are you located?  By your post I am guessing Pacific time zone, but which state?

Del….very lovely.  I also have several old sentimental plants that seem to just keep going and going.

Tried to phoyograph the Kiss me Over the Garden Gate, but very difficult to show how tall they really are.  I placed a 6 ft step ladder beside them to give some idea…..they are at least 6 ft above the ladder.  Charlene

Del….there are several places that sell them.  Some just have the blue, but I found at least 3 companies with the mixed color ones.  I wonder how big the blooms are?  Charlene

Good morning Molly and all to follow.  It is a nice morning and I am excited because we are heading to see lair and Tim today.  I am buying a mattress from Lair and giving him mine as trade in….lol… also have a few cuttings and a Seven Sisters rose bush to take for him.

The weather is supposed to beautiful and I hope the traffic isn’t too bad.  We are taking a different route than normal because DH doesn’t trust his pickup on the big hills…..I don’t know what that is about.

Molly…we will let the virtual gardener and the virtual maid move all the plants in and get ready for the party on Monday…..LOL

Have a great Saturday everyone.  Charlene

Del that is a grogeous begonia…..I’ll be staying tuned to see your bargaining power in action….lol

Wanda….I started those from seed last year….I got the seed from Summer Hill seed.  Because of neglect (I put them on a lower shelf in my GH so they’d get some shade) they died of heat and thirst because I forgot about them.  I got a double begonia for Mothers day this year….and it is doing great.  I think I may have posted it in the pic of the day.  It also has huge red/orange blooms.  Charlene

    MD……or as I just read….Jane.  I didn’t know your name.

When one is growing a garden it seems to be one thing or another that screws things up.  This year it was heat and extreme drought that made me frustrated…..along with a few high winds.  Next year it may be the rabbits again (I haven’t seen a single one this year).  EVERY year are the blasted squirrels and one year when all seemed to be going well. we had a terrible infestation of grasshoppers.  They do SO much damage in a short time.  I went to bed with a trellis full of lush, blooming vines and woke up to nothing.  I sometimes wonder why we pursue our gardening dreams.

Jane, I hope your plants aren’t dead.  If they are healthy like I assume they are….they will come back and you will be able to over winter them.  Charlene
