I switch it to the parade on NBC, and when DH walks into the room, he switches it back to a “Leave it to Beaver” marathon….GRRRRRRRRRRR  Charlene

    hAPPY tHANKSGIVING TO YOU, eVA……LOL.

We had such a big dinner that i doubt I will be eating anything tonight.  I think several from here are having their Thanksgiving feast tonight, so I predict the board to be very quiet.

Our Canadian friends had Thanksgiving a while back, so they will be having a normal Thursday night meal, so some of them will probably share their menus.  Charlene

Our company is gone and it is just DH and I here now.  We had a big meal and then sat around and played cards for a couple of hours before having dessert.  We stepped outside at 3 o’clock just to enjoy the beautiful 62º weather……right now (2 ½ hrs later) the temp is 40 and still dropping.  It is supposed to be 28 by morning.

I made raisin upside down pudding this morning.  There was not room enough for a 9 X 13 pan in the oven, so I put it in an 8 X 11 glass baking pan which fit in there perfectly.  It boiled over and the entire house was filled with smoke….not to mention the mess in the oven.  I now have the bottom of the oven and the grates soaking in the bathtub, so I should have it all cleaned up before I go to bed.  It makes me mad when I do stupid things like that.

Kathy….we aren’t acclimated for these cold temps yet, are we?

Stella…..we decided not to put outside decorations up this year, but I love driving around and looking at others….especially like to do it when it is snowing,,,,just beautiful!

Del….wake Steve up or eat without him…..smelling all that good food makes a person hungry!

Sue…I’d love to watch a Castle marathon, but DH isn’t into that show, so instead he has on Andy Griffith Show

Leslie…..I think I understand why he is your ex….lol.  Glad you had a quiet day with your DGS….good bonding time.

Bette, now that you’ve been working on those ornaments, the craft bug has bitten again, hasn’t it?  LOL  Crafts are a great way to kill many long winter hours.

Guess i will read a few more threads here and then decide what to do the rest of the evening.  I’m too full and lazy to walk on the treadmill tonight and the wind is far too chilly to walk outside.  I might just have to hold down the recliner….lol.  Charlene

I am have to admit that all of our dinner was from the grocery store.  I had to prepare it, but nothing from my garden.

When I was growing up the entire meal was from our own farm and gardens (except like Bette said….we didn’t grow the wheat, etc, for homemade bread.)  Infact, Thanksgiving was usually when we ate the last of the garden tomatoes.  Mom would pick them before a frost and wrap them and put them in the fruit cellar…..we would continue to eat them for weeks after the killing frost.  Good memories…..

Rita, I haven’t seen any updates on his condition.  I imagine his DW is busy and he may still be in the hospital.

Margbe…..Gary was hospitalized with pneumonia.  His DW was kind enough to post here so we weren’t wondering where he was.  I’m hoping we hear something soon.  Charlene

My Mom always wore a dress with an apron (homemade of course).  Every Monday there were 7 dresses and 7 aprons hanging on the line.  They were then dampend with a mixture of Argo clothes starch and ironed meticuously.  I didn’t inherit the ironing gene.  I’m thinking God invented permanent press so I’d never have to iron again….lol…..I hated that job as a kid.

My DBIL always wore a stove pipe style denim hat.  My DSis would wash them, soak them in starch and pull them over a coffee can to dry stiff.  I’d forgotten all about that until this thread….lol.  Charlene
If I had the leftovers however I bet before the night was over I would be having a turkey sandwich whether or not I was hungry.
Bette….there was one bun left, so I think that was a “sign”….lol.  I’ll probably make it disappear along with a chunk of turkey before bedtime.  Charlene

Good morning Sue, Molly, Del and all who visit later.  We have 38º now and supposed to get into the mid 60s this afternoon.

Sue…..I don’t envy you having to help move this weekend, but since it is her 1st home, maybe she hasn’t acqyuired alot yet.  When our kids moved out, I took advantage of the situation and gave them several pieces of furniture and stuff from my attic.  I called it “cleaning house”  lol

Molly…..I wish I could be doing things to get ready for tomorrow, but I am going to work…..and I will have a helper.  DGS’s daycare lasy is taking the day off.  His Mom and Dad have to work, so guess who gets to spend time with me?  It will be fun, but I don’t get as much done when he is helping me.

Del….like you, I will do a couple of things tonight, but the rest will wait until tomorrow as well.  I am just having DS and his family (5) and DB # 3 and couple of his family members that don’t have anything to do. We won’t eat until about 1pm.  There will only be about 10 of us.  We will have our kids and GKs on Sunday…..that day I will have ham balls and meatballs.

Have a great day everyone.  Charlene

Very nice naturtiums Steve & Sue.

Sue….they are annuals and need to be started every year.  If you look on your plant you should be able to find seeds.  They are big enough to see….unlike many other seeds.

Naturelover….isn’t that amazing where Mother Nature plants things?

Another night shot….this is always the last oriental lily to bloom every year…..usually the end of July.

I am also getting dishes prepared for tomorrow, so tonights menu is “clean out the fridge”…..a little bit of this, that and the other thing.  I made alot more room in the fridge by moving my seeds to the basement for the weekend.  DH even said, “where did those containers go that always set on the 2nd shelf?”  lol

I am also sending kind thoughts to this family.  We’ve had a couple similar situations here recently….so sad at holiday time.  Charlene

Good evening all!  I have the pea salad and the pumpkin pie squares done for tomorrow…..kitchen is all cleaned up, so I don’t dare start anything and make a mess again.

Kathy….don’t you usually work on Thanksgiving day…if not….what are your plans?  We had 66º today, but like you….it is going to change soon.

Sandy….we have also been having such nice weather for November….glad you are enjoying your dog….does he like baths?

Lair….you two don’t usually eat until evening, so don’t stay up too late cooking.  There will be lots of time in the morning

Gayle….sounds like with all the chocolate for those kids, they were primed for full steam ahead all day….lol

Bette….I hope a good nights sleep changes your frame of mind and you go and have fun with family!

Del….that sucks about Steve’s schedule change.  I am sure you can and will work around it, but it makes things more difficult
