Gary….the Mexican Sunflowers (Tithonia) grow alot taller than the Mexican Hats do, so you may want to keep that in mind when planting them.  Charlene

Oh my Kathy….you are getting more than one new one….lol.  DSis brought me a different geranium last fall before it froze…..I don’t even know what color it is.

Also….I have started 2 new kinds from seed and there happens to be enough to share one of each with you.

    Orange Maverick

And Tornado Bi-color duet….an ivy geranium

I like that orange.  I’ve never seen that color.

I have never seen that color either….that is why I thought i HAD to have it…..lol.  I got the seeds from Swallowtail and they germinated easily.  I hope I can show pics of my own this summer.  Charlene
Charlene, is there any way you could start a cutting of the one with the pretty color leaves
Do you mean this one, Wanda?  If so, it is a Vancouver Cetennial and I’d be happy to start one for you.  I think I also promised you a red rosebud geranium, correct?

Actually, Mexican sunflower is not a sunflower….it is Tithonia, but grows tall like a sunflower.  Mine get at least 6 or more feet tall

Good evening everyone.  I accomplished alot here today.  DD and family were supposed to be coming for dinner.  I finished the cleaning…..baked 2 nine inch Pineapple Upside down cakes….got 24 frozen dinner rolls out to thaw and had mixed up and was browning 48 meatballs when I heard my phone.  She sent me a text that they would not be able to come because they were going snowmobiling….she said it might be the last day for that.  I was disappointed, but more mad that she had to send me a text rather than calling to tell me.  I shared one of the cakes with DS & family….but we will be eating meatballs for a week.  Actually, I will freeze some of them and some of the rolls as well.  Thank God I hadn’t peeled potatoes before her text!  LOL

So….to calm my nerves, I planted another tray of seeds….this is the last of my seed starting other than vines and a few other things that I will direct sow.

I did go and visit my friend for a short time.  She is so sick that she did not want company….poor thing.  I offered to being her some food, but she said that water is about all that she can keep down…and that runs straight through.  I fear that she is going to quickly drop the weight that it took her so long to put back on.

Have a great evening everyone….tomorrow is another day and the start of a new work week….blahh.  Charlene

We had meatballs, mashed potatoes, squash, and dinner rolls…..pineapple upside down cake for dessert…..I can probably copy and paste this for a few days since I made enough meatballs (48) for DD and family and their plans changed so they couldn’t make it.

When I took one of my cakes over to DS’s house today, DGS had to show me the chicken sitting in their oven…..they were doing the beer butt chicken as well.  He thought it was funny that the chicken was sitting up in the oven…..lol.  Charlene

Julie….don’t cry….I will share some with you when you come to the reunion this summer.  There has to be some reason I have about 40 cuttings planted right now…..LOL  Charlene

OK, I have a question. Do the tolinthina? do well with the sunflowers Or should they be kept separate?

I have never watched QVC…..don’t even know if we get it through direct TV.  Doesn’t make any difference….if it is anything like info-mercials….I click the remote to off.  I hate shopping…..especially on TV.  Charlene

Good morning Molly and all who stop by later.  We have 18º this morning so it is the warmest it has been all week, but still nothing to brag about.  Still not even any 40s for high in the 7 day forecast, so my plan of moving plants to the GH is scratched for awhile.  I do have to move some to my shop window to make room for more transplanted seedlings in the windows.  If I cover them with garbage bags they shouldn’t freeze before I get them to the car.

I see one of the mandevillas that I am wintering over has a pretty pink bloom this morning….that made me smile.  No sun here yet and I don’t think we are supposed to see it all day….bummer.

I’ll just enjoy the warmth and hot cross buns here….and plan my day.

Have a great Saturday everyone.  Charlene

Mine do well outside in the East or the west.  they can tolerate sun, but get a little wilted when it is too hot.  I also have a few blooming right now….later than usual…..maybe alsoo because of the colder than normal temps.  Charlene
