I used to do a lot of cookies but now there isn’t any one to eat them but me. I usually do a couple of batches of date nut bread, probably some cookies and some fudge for plates for the neighbors. I used to bake for days but none of us need the extra calories.I am a cookie monster if they are around.

I need to grow more zinnias next year. I kinda got stuck on the profusions and need more of the big ones. I love the color of these.

Chicken and what was left of the veggies from last night, a baked sweet potato and later a piece of chocolate cake.

I went out this morning and fed the horse, watered the greenhouse and felt like crap so I came in and haven’t done a single thing since. Took a little nap in the recliner and that didn’t help much. I sure hope I am not coming down with something if I do it will be the first time in years. The weather hasn’t been that great today, windy and spitting rain so that doesn’t make my mood any better either. I had planned to get the Christmas Tree out today but that will wait until tomorrow. I am not in the mood to even think about Christmas.

I had beautiful Lantana in DD’s front yard, would get 3′ tall every summer. DGD mowed it down this spring and it didn’t come back.. The old red rose is still blooming even after the frost:

Oh I like the looks of them. It has been a long time since I grew them so I might just have to have some again.

I was going to say the same thing Charlene. I saw people helping people and they didn’t have anything themselves. -We usually see the dark side of people but there has been so much good from this too…neighbors become neighbors again.

If I had read the recipe before I asked that question I would know, I think instead of smashing them I will cut them into smaller pieces but not mashed. Your soup is what we call Taco Soup around here and one of our favorites. A little dollop of sour cream on top and sprinkle shredded sharp cheese on it too. We put Fritos in the bowl before we put the soup in, love it on a cold winters night.

I never had balloon flowers invade…a couple doubled from the same roots but didn’t invade any nearby plants.

I did laundry and cleaned through this morning. This afternoon I went over and cleaned up the stuff from the Harvest Table at church, got that mess all cleaned up now I have 6 big sweet potatoes, 4 pumpkins, 2 butternut squash, a dozen apples,  a huge cabbage to deal with. The sweet potatoes and squash will last quite awhile so that won’t be a problem. I took the turnips out to the horse because they had shriveled up quite a bit and she won’t eat them. So they went to the compost pile. I also took one of the little pumpkins out for her and she won’t eat that either. Fussy Bit**~ I never knew a horse that didn’t like both.

When my oldest GD was planning to get married (she didn’t thank God) I bought a pretty recipe book, made copies of all of the recipes from my family and her great grandmother’s family for her for Christmas. One year I made quilts for my 2 grandchildren, my grandson actually took his to Kosovo when he went over there and he still has it. I am totally stumped on all of them this year, they all have more money than I do, they buy everything they want when they want it. Kathy making meals for DD would be good since she works such crazy hours. What to do for the grandkids is a puzzle to me. One GD has a birthday 2 days after Christmas.

GD is turning 16 this year so we are going to have a party at the pavilion at the church, lots of loud music and don’t know what else. One year we had planned a party for her and it snowed like crazy overnight so we had to cancel it. The kid has enough clothes to open a shop, there isn’t much she doesn’t have so I am totally stumped. I know she would rather have gift cards but that isn’t fun.

I chopped a couple of strips of bacon, sliced some cabbage, a red onion, a couple of apples and cooked it all together with a splash of Balsamic  Vinegar. It was pretty good.  Enough left for lunch tomorrow.

Kathy she loves apples and carrots but wouldn’t touch the pumpkin or turnips. She loves peppermint candy too. I had some candy canes left over from last Christmas and she devoured them. The witch ate every one of my strawberry plants about the first week she was here.
