Joann I am so sorry you had to go through that but proud that you put her ahead of yourself and let her go peacefully. Sometimes we want to keep them as long as possible and I know how hard that decision is.  You will always have her in your heart and as Gayle said I cannot read that Rainbow Bridge myself without remembering the times I had to do that. I should have several wonderful dogs waiting for me when it is my time. Big hugs to you!

Mine didn’t look like it would make it through the winter then when the weather changed it took off! I am going to start more in the fall, it is such a pretty plant and seems to thrive in the heat.

Well once again such a lovely show of flowers and some delicious tomatoes too. I have this bed that I have shown before but it is still going strong…it came back by itself again this year, it sorta re-arranges itself every year.

Gayle here is your  Mona Lavendar next to Bette’s yellow geranium: it is beautiful!

It is getting very dark and cloudy now and I just heard the first thunder so guess I need to get off of here now.

It sure looks like Lion’s Bane but as connie said the leaves look different. Possibly a hybrid of that plant?

I tried from 6:15 this morning to get a connection on this thing. Sorry I wasn’t here to set up the patio for the day. I did manage to connect twice, once at 7:30-disconnected 7:39, again 10:21, 9:31, disconnected 9:30 and just now..how long that will last is anyone’s guess.

Going to be hot again today with bad storms this afternoon. Waiting for DGD to appear to help me get the shade cloth off of the greenhouse, the torn poly removed and the shade cloth put back on. I did manage to get a lot of things done inside while I was fussing with this thing. I got a huge boost Saturday. Was at my favorite nursery picking up some plants for the church, told the guy what happened to my poly and how expensive it was getting it online and paying postage. He asked me what size and I told him…he said he had to order poly for a couple of his houses, he will get a price from his wholesale supplier and order mine with his…he gets wholesale prices and no delivery charge.  That is going to be such a boost to my pocketbook this year. He also asked me if I was collecting unemployment, I told him no, if I applied for it I would have to be actively looking for a job. He said just use our name and I will tell them we aren’t hiring right now. I probably won’t do that, it wouldn’t be right and I would feel bad…there are enough people who really need that money now and I don’t intend to work again…except for myself [;)]

So have a good day everyone, continued prayers for all who need it and anyone who doesn’t know they need them.

Welcome back Sandy. I know how frustrating it is to be without a computer and my problems are now just with the internet connection. It is nice you sold some plants, I had planned to this year but it seems like every business in the county is selling them too. There is a big wholesale nursery in the county and they have put flowers even in the grocery stores to sell. So I have a lot of flowers that never got put into the ground this spring so a lot will go in this fall.

I am so sorry Karen. After all of the work and excitement you have been through. But your health is more important now. They say When One Door Closes Another One Opens…so I am sure there is a brighter future for you. I will have you in my prayers for successful surgery, easy recovery and the best is yet to come.

That is the greatest news Gayle. Amazing how close a person can come and still recover from that.

Iris I am in zone 7 and have always grown ginger here. I am not sure it is hardy much above this zone although Del grows it in zone 6 but she cuts it back and piles bags of leaves over it for the winter. I don’t have to cover mine but it is grown right on the edge of the house foundation. It can also be grown in pots and moved into a protected area for the winter. If you would like to try some pm me your mailing address and I will TRY to remember to send you some next spring because mine is so thick now I am going to need to thin it out in the spring.

Del yes it is a diluted mixture of malathion that I drench my plants in before I move them inside. Let them sit for a day or so then flush them out so you aren’t taking that smell inside. Because of the hurricane last year mine didn’t get done and I paid the price for that all winter in the greenhouse. Had critters all year. I will get them done for sure this year.
