Not only can you be stung by Michigan Bulbs but they also operate under a few other names…

Alma that reminds me of when we were kids a bunch of us would get together in one girls house and carve Ivory Soap…her dad had a grocery store so he always furnished the soap. I had forgotten all about that until I saw this.

I am hiding in the house for awhile. The guy who is installing the water will stop and talk as long as I am around and I WANT THAT FINISHED TODAY!!!  So I made one of Bette’s boiled omelets and will have that for lunch.

It seems since we have had rain and cooler temps a lot of things have decided to bloom again. I’m lovin’ it!

I have never seen whitefly on any of the nicotiana. I had a lot on the Confederate Roses but sprayed them with dawn and water and they haven’t come back again.

I wouldn’t dare even guess what that might be is there any way you can get a picture of it?

I like pansies in the fall because they last all winter here. But they aren’t ready in local garden centers here but possibly Lowes or one of those places might have them now.

That doesn’t look anything like my agapanthus but there are probably a lot of different varieties. Mine has the blue flowers but the foliage nor the blooms are shaped like that.

Del I can promise you WILL choke when they start quoting those prices! I about choked when he told me what it was going to cost just to run water to the barn and GH. But it is something that had to be done, would not be so bad if the guy who installed my septic system hadn’t pulled the pipe from the well to the barn completely out, so that has to be replaced too. Hopefully once you recover from the shock you will be able to get the sunroom of your dreams. I am totally thrilled with the cooler temps, don’t want winter but hope for a long fall season to get some of my long neglected things done in the yard.  DD and SIL just left for NY and if it is cold here they will freeze there coming from Fl. I gave her some seeds and a couple of Confederate Roses to put into their yard down there.

iBeautiful Iris Steve, reminds me that I have a lot of them to dig and divide this year. Lovely dahlias too, wish I had all of them. Today is a picture of the source of my compost pile:

I am in a constant battle with whiteflies this year too…and mealy bugs! I have a small brown moth on all of the gingers now but when they get frosted I will remove all of the leaves and put them on the burn pile so the eggs won’t hatch. I have never seen a pink one, kinda cute as long as it doesn’t consume your plants when the eggs hatch.

Kathy since we are on a well I have to hire a guy to do it all, dig the ditches, run the pipe from the well, run it into the barn and also to the greenhouse. It really put a dent into my finances but will be well worth it when I can have a nice warm hose in the winter to water with without having to connect it at the well and drag the hoses back into the greenhouse so they won’t freeze. He has all of the trenching done and has gone to take the ditch witch back and get the plumbing supplies he needs to do it. It will take him a day or so more to get it all done. I am working cleaning out the greenhouse today and my peanut butter sandwich is gone so time to get back at it.

Plant them in the ground. Water deeply and once a week if you get no rain. No fertilizer until spring. We planted ours in Al in November and they bloomed the following spring. I have several here that will need to be shaped and pruned in the spring…shoulda done it this year but ran out of time.

There are some really nice yews that will spread but not grow tall. That would save you having to do any pruning. I don’t think you are a wuss, just smart enough to know your limits and paying attention to your health. If you want a taller Yew for the corner of the house your local nurseryman can tell you which ones are good for that too. Stay healthy and visit here more often. We have missed you.
