Sheesh Del what a terrible day for you. I hope today will be better for you and for Steve too. My DS in Al. has three Jack Russles. One was a runner, she got a shock collar and every time he strayed outside of his permitted area she zapped him. It didn’t take him long to figure out that he had to stay in his area. Sure is a lot easier than running after a dog.

I do have a question, what were you going to do with charred tomatoes?

Oh Steve I am so sorry! If it isn’t one thing it is another that tries our patience.

One thing I found Steve is once you have one next year you will more. I love the color of them and they do like to self sow.

Mmarne that is a beautiful dahlia. Your neighbors must have taken a hint from you and decided they wanted pretty flowers too.

Stella a Confederate Rose isn’t even a rose. It is in the hibiscus family. I don’t know how much further north they are hardy but I do know they are hardy in my zone.

Gayle I have seen videos of the swim but never was lucky enough to see it myself. I have friends in NY that used to camp down there every year. It looks like a great time was had by all and I hope all of the ponies find good homes.

Stella all you need to do is go to sleep one night and the weeds grow. I have about given up on them.

My nasturtiums were the most pitiful I have ever seen this year and I won’t be bothering to plant them another year. There are too many much prettier plants that are more dependable than that to spend the money on seeds that bloom once, turn yellow and never bloom again. I think of all of them I have had this year I might have one bloom right now. I had them in several pots and they did the same thing in every place I put them.

I got a few pics of some of the crepe myrtles, I have 5 white ones that I started in Al. and brought with me, a pink, a couple of lavender. Both lavenders were supposed to be mini’s – seed I got from Park. One is mini one is taller than most of the other ones.

Pink one after a heavy rain:

It is a strange year for crepes. I thought it was just me until I drove up Rt 17 that has the medians full of white crepes and found theirs are doing the same as mine, some are in full bloom, some are just starting to bloom and some are not even ready to bloom yet. This is a first for me because they always have bloomed together. Must be the crazy weather this year. One of my white ones is just setting bloom buds now while the rest are all in full bloom.

    Madenilla Magnifica!

That was a new one to me and I had to put the entire name in Google in order to find it. It apparently is a cross between Mandevilla and Allamanda. The site I found didn’t have a picture of it but knowing what each plant looks like it must be similar to both of them.  I had allamanda for several years in Al. Mine was yellow and I loved it. I only have three mandevillas now…two pink and a red. I think a lot of growers take liberty with the names. The blooms look alike but they grow differently. Allamanda is a shrub type plant while Mandevilla is a vine type. My allamanda froze one winter when we had an ice storm and power was out for a week.

That is great news Leroy.  Nobody ever totally recovers until they are back home. It sounds like they are very careful to be sure everything is ready for her to return home and do a few things for herself. I like that. Remember to take care of Leroy also, you are a vital part of her recovery.

Good morning Leslie and all who come behind us. We had a nice thunderstorm last night, another 1-1/2″ of lovely rain. So no watering for me today. I am going to lunch with a bunch of people from several churches in the area..a group called the XYZ’s  aka The End…all older people. This will be the first time I have been able to join them since I was always working when they did it before. So I will go out and do a few things outside before it is time to clean up and go.  Today is supposed to be much cooler (mid 80′ss) after the storm last night but going back up to the hots for the rest of the week. When I get home I need to mow the lawn again. Grass insists on growing no matter what the temps are. I hope everyone has a great day.

Sharon I love the local events that you see all over the country.  Around here it is oyster and crab festivals. At one time when we first moved here there was someone who would plant a Flamingo in someones yard…leave it there for a few days then in the dark of night move it to another yard. DD got it, it disappeared after a couple of days and has never been seen again. Apparently some kids thought they needed it. Do you make all of those things?

Del I don’t exactly get to “pick” my project, just find the ones that need it the most. But it is nice to wake up, have time for coffee and not have to rush off somewhere.  In fact I loaned my truck to a friend last night so I am without wheels for awhile today. But didn’t have any place I needed to be so that works for me.

Wendy that is great news! I am happy that you got the best possible! They know a good employee when the see one.

Going to be another hot day here then some cooler air moving in later today…cool as in 80′s instead of 90′s! Not sure what I will get into today, I don’t have to look too hard to find something that needs doing.

I hope all of you with physical problems get relief soon.  I am happy when I wake up in the morning and feel all of my achy bones..it means I made it through another night.

Stay cool and have a great day.

Kathy I think you need to come and visit me. It is quite humid today but not nearly as hot as you. And the pool will cool you off, have the a/c going in the house so you can sleep at night. I don’t understand this crazy weather this year. I wonder what the winter will be like.
