You guys make me drool talking about rhubarb. I have tried so many times to make it grow both here and in Al and it will not live through the summers either place. And I tried buying some from the store once and was totally disappointed..it was tough and tasteless. As a child my Mother would give us a little dish of sugar after supper and we would go out to the bench that had rhubarb growing on either side of it, pick a piece of rhubarb and dip it in sugar and eat it. Never mind washing it or anything sensible like that I am sure more than once the dog probably watered it:(

I love my clematis..wish I could post pictures of them{ I have three on the gazebo and one growing by the back steps, that one needs to be moved. One of them is a double and it has been gorgeous this year. When I moved here I brought several Mountain Laurel with me. Planted some behind the house and several along the tree line. The ones behind the house didn’t like it there so one by one they died. I totally forgot the ones on the tree line and the other day I stood outside talking to DD, looked and two of the most beautiful laurels are blooming! I never saw them bloom before but I probably wasn’t looking for them. I know when you drive up Rt 81 through Pa this time of the year they are thick and beautiful there…they take your breath away.

Good Morning Leroy…my dd had both of her hands operated on in one day that was before they did the minimal invasive surgery. But it has been almost 20 years and she is still doing well so I know you will too.

Good Morning Marilyn and all..I didn’t get here at all yesterday, I was so busy getting a wardrobe out of one bedroom, it was my nephew’s grandmothers and I thought it should stay in that family so he is headed back to Alabama with it this morning. Since DD’s house is under construction and she has a guest coming from Australia she is going to have to stay here so I have that bedroom cleaned out and ready for her, I will wash sheets from Nephews bedroom and get that ready for the next one sometimes I never know who is going to be knocking on the door. It is overcast today and strong storms predicted south of us…we really do need the rain…never thought those words would be true but once the rain stopped it is DRY! I have so much to do outside but can’t do a lot in the rain, so will concentrate on the house and greenhouse which is still full of plants waiting for a permanent home…for once being late starting seeds is a good thing for me. I didn’t get a chance to get on here yesterday so I will check some of the things out to see what everyone is up to. Have a great day!

Good Morning Larry, yesterday I would have traded some of our heat for a little cool. We had a couple of showers overnight so the temps are lower today. I have to mow the lawns if it dries off enough. But first I need to get out and open the greenhouse, they predicted storms so I closed it up and they didn’t happen here so things will be cooking out there. DD has company coming from Australia this month and since her house is upside down being redone she will have to stay here overnight. Just what we needed with all that is going on around here now. I loved seeing the pics of your grandkids this morning…our graduation isn’t until June so that is also on the calendar. Have a great day everyone…I am hoping for one myself:)

It was downright HOT here today and humid too. Awhile ago it clouded up and thundered so I went out and closed up the greenhouse( a storm blew the poly off of it a couple of years ago so I have to close the doors if it storms) we had a very brief shower and then the sun came out making it more humid than before. I worked all morning packing up DD’s kitchen so the contractor could knock the wall out between the kitchen and dining room. I went over awhile ago, even with the studs still there it is such an improvement I can hardly wait to see what he gets done tomorrow. I got claustrophobia in her kitchen after the last idiot that worked there closed it up. I sat here this morning having coffee and looked out toward the greenhouse, there was something white growing all over one of the pine trees behind the gh, went out and it is a WHITE wild rose completely covering a pine tree. I hate those pines so I am happy to see one covered up. I need to get busy on more of my things now that I have DD’s taken care of (I hope)! The lawns all need to be mowed again too. I am going to have some warmed up pizza from last night and try to relax awhile.

First thing is to figure what is eating them before you start putting anything on the plants. There has to be some hint re: are they chewing holes in the blooms or leaves, devouring the entire plant etc. Are you seeing any frass(poop) around the plants? It is hard to tell just what it might be without a little more information.

Good Morning Kathy, Larry and all…we had a little rain overnight, not as much as we would like but will take any that comes along at this point. I don’t know what I might get into today, there is no end of things that need help inside and out. Our kids don’t graduate until June here so we are still in the planning stages of the parties. I did manage to get groceries yesterday so that isn’t on the list. Kathy for the first time since I moved here I have been able to sleep with the window open for a couple of weeks, I think that is why I sleep so late in the mornings. The temps are going up and humidity is high today. Guess I need to get going if I plan to get anything done today!

Charlie you can if you can put them somewhere if there is frost or freezing temps predicted…at least cover them when it gets cold.

Tina mine self sow every year. And they sometimes show up outside of the bed. I usually cut the first blooms off when they are finished, let the second ones go to seed. IF I can catch them when they are ready I plant the seeds where I want them to grow the next year but sometimes they seem to have a mind of their own and they show up in other places too. Who is that handsome boy and beautiful girl in the pictures?

Tina I have several colors of peonies..one is yellow! Because of the cold winter I didn’t get as many blooms as normal but they are all blooming…the yellow one is already finished. I think my favorite one is the one my DH gave his mother on Mothers day when he was 16! After she died and they were selling the house he dug it up, divided it with all of his brothers and sisters. I moved it here when I came. My Iris is blooming now too. I may be outside in the rain today trying to get some more things planted. Depending on what channel I was watching it is either going to rain this afternoon or tonight.

Good Morning Tina and all…I was here earlier but didn’t want to take a chance of two GM threads. So I went out and had coffee on the porch, it is cloudy but warm, they say we might have a few showers later today.I am not sure what I might get into after church I guess it depends on the weather. Some of the beds I have weeded are already starting to get weedy again:(( I have peonies and early iris blooming, the roses too! I had planned to take the weigelia out this year but they are so pretty I changed my mind. I finished packing DD’s dining room yesterday so that is done. They start that room tomorrow. This is going to be a really busy month from now on. Graduation and Birthday parties…so much to do outside too. Time to get ready for church…have a WONDERFUL day, prayers for Ron and his dear daughter as well as all who need them.

Good Morning all..I was here earlier but had so much to do I didn’t start this. I worked all afternoon yesterday on one bed that was totally full of creeping charlie. It is the bed that has the phlox in it and I didn’t want to lose that. I took 3 trailer loads of charlie and pine cones to the burn pile. I would love to work on more beds today but I have to finish packing up my (dish Hoarder) daughters dining room so they can start there next week. Our graduation isn’t until June and we are planning a big party at the church pavilion for several of the girls including my DGD. That poor kid has had more problems with her car, she had new tires put on it about two weeks ago, she ran over something on the road the other night and punctured one of her new tires. Since their senior trips were cancelled due to the problems in Baltimore and DC she is going to use the refund from that for a new tire. I hate it that they will miss out on the senior trip but it is what it is. The animals are all fed and back to sleep so I need to get myself over there to wrap more dishes. Have a wonderful day everyone, it is a perfect day to work outside, sunny, no humidity and cooler temps…oh well it is what it is.

I can’t wait to see pics Leroy! I started mine late this year so some things are just beginning to bloom but that is ok since I don’t have all of the beds cleaned out either.
