I have to agree with everybody else.  If you do plant it be prepared for it to take over every inch of space you have.    Almost impossible to contain to one area.

I’m not Charlene but it does look like it.  But I agree with Charlene, I don’t think it will survive outdoors during the winter.

Mine is in the GH & was doing really well till just this last week.  Now I see some brown edges on it.  I hope it doesn’t die .

Thanks for the reminder.  I actually thought of this last night.  Then promptly forgot it again.

It wasn’t that big of an adjustment when we retired because we spent all of our free time together anyway.  We rarely went anywhere on our own.  Looking back, that was probably more DH’s doing than mine.  LOL

I did continue to work PT after he retired & we moved out of state.  Then his health got bad & I became 24/7/365  sole caretaker.  I even gave up my gardening during that time but it’s what you do when you’re married, so it was OK.

Have you thought about a PT job, Gary?  Maybe just a couple days a week?

Good morning everybody.  Sunny & cold on this Palm Sunday morning.  32º at 9:45 & down to 24º last night.  Where did Spring go?  Did it even get here?

I’ve been out to fill birdfeeders & that wind is still blowing.  Took the covering off the Camellia.  I think it looks OK ,but can tell more when the rest of the buds start to open   I’m glad I got that picture yesterday.  Might be the only good one for the year.   Not supposed to be quite as cold tonight, (but still a long way from warm) so I don’t think I’ll cover it.

I checked on things in  the GH & watered what needed it.  Everything in there looks normal for this time of year.

No special plans for today.  Just whatever comes along.

Do churches still give out pieces of Palm at the morning service on this day.  Ours used to do that when I was young(er).  My mom would bring it home & put it behind a picture of Jesus on the wall & it would stay there till the next year.   I don’t know if they still do that or not.  Maybe some of the smaller churches do?

Speaking of moving in with somebody.  I like my own space & privacy too.  I would not be happy moving in with my son for example.  Might be OK if you have your own “apt.” with your own rooms, entrance, etc;  But to actually share the house.  No way.

My youngest DB bought 11 acres  of farmland on the waterfront last year & is planning to build a house there  within the next few yrs.  I’ve been half-way kidding him about building a guest cottage for me or a “Sister” apt.  LOL  He’s been making comments lately about me living with them in their new house; still in a joking mood but kinda serious , if you know what I mean.  If he is serious we need to have a little talk about me NOT  actually  “living with him”.  I ‘d want my own entrance; pay my own utilities & contribute toward insurance & taxes.   All I need is a BR, bath, sitting area & a kitchen big enough for a table to eat at. .  None of which has to be big.   We’ll see what happens.

I would like to get out of this community within the next 5 yr.  It is getting too expensive to live here with the HOA dues going up every year & I’m getting tired of all the drama here, surrounding every thing that goes on.   They argue about everything from  what time the pool opens to the breakfast menu at the Marina Restaurant. (Those are the two latest hot topics.)   The water quality is terrible (most people don’t drink it) & the management is worse.

OK, enough whining. The sun’s out, the skies are blue so that’s good.   Warmer temps would be nice but can’t have everything.

Jo Ann, does your church give pieces of Palm to their members today.  Ours used to do that.  My mom would bring it home & put it behind a picture of Jesus on the wall & they it would stay there till the next year.   I don’t think they do that anymore.

Mary, I got concerned about that Camellia last night when the temps got below freezing so I went out at 11:30 & covered it all up.  I’ve never done that before but the first few blooms yesterday were so pretty I didn’t want to take a chance on losing the rest.

I always plant them deep Melissa.  Mine didn’t do as well this year as they usually do. My own fault,  I messed with them too much.  They’re still pretty small.  Not much bigger than Gary’s.  I’m only starting some for my son this year & if he wants more he’ll have to but some plants.  I’ll get mine from the nearby produce stand.  My back yard is getting too shady for decent sized tomatoes now.

If you were able to cut it in half it probably has stripes of color all through it.

Good evening everybody.  It was a beautiful day.  Blue skies & sunshine but COLD with a COLD wind.  Ugh.  Supposed to get down to 28º tonight  It is already hovering at freezing.  I’ll need to turn up the heat in the GH  in a little bit to be sure it stays warm enough for the seedlings.

I transplanted Columbine this afternoon but those & the Gloriosa Daisy are staying inside, in a window, till it gets a little warmer again.  Supposed to warm up next week.

Put laundry away, and checked on things in the GH.  Made room for more seedlings (the ones that are in the window)  & finished a book I was reading.

That was my day & I’m satisfied with it.  Will watch In An Instant at 9 then I think that will be it for Sat. night TV

Creeping Phlox would look good in that log.  Perennial that blooms in Spring.  Or Verbena. Or even cascading petunias.

I had that trailing vinca last year for the first time.  Got the seed from Swallowtail but forgot to save any.

Posy, restaurant downtown?  What does that mean? I’m just kidding you but it made me smile.  Because, we have no nearby town of any kind & no restaurants other than fast food out on the hwy, 20 miles away.  No pizza delivery either.

I ad leftover Goulash from the freezer.
