Good Morning, It is sunny and in the upper 40′s this morning and going up in the 60′s later.  My Doctor appointment went well yesterday.  My good cholesterol is 82 and my bad is down to 40 so they were happy.  My sugar is still elevated but about the same as last year. They wanted to put me on more medication but I said no to that.  I had to tell her that I have cut my medication in half since last appointment and the sugar level has stayed the same so I am not sold that it has much to do with medication. She was concerned about a spot on my chest and wants me to have it checked.  They have already called and wanted to give me an appointment for Friday but I can’t do anymore this week so we will make it next month.  I can’t say much about the trip to the vet but will later but it was made as easy as possible by the caring people at the office.  There are a lot of voids here in the house and in my heart.

I’m going shopping for a car this morning.  The guy I want to deal with comes in at 10 am so I would like to be there then.  I’ll let you know how that turns out.  Carol I hope your color tour is a lot of fun for you and you have great weather.  Leroy, you have fun too at your store close out.  Get some good deals.  Everyone else have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, It is 42* and sunny today going up to 60* this afternoon.  Yesterday was grand with a high of 65* and sun.  The furnace man came and got a number of the parts he needs and they should be in today or tomorrow but funny thing the furnace started working last night and is still running this morning.  I have a doctor appointment this morning at 11 am.  Tim is off to work on his carpenter job.  He took my car so I’ll be taking his to the doctor.  I need to have it this afternoon because Smokey can’t get into mine anymore. I’m taking Smokey to the vet this afternoon for the last time.  Tim and I took turns breaking down last night and I imagine tonight will be worse.  I know it is the right decision to send him ahead of me but it is still hard.  Tomorrow I have an appointment to look at cars.  I already have lined up a mechanic to look at one if I find it.  Price is the biggest limitation I have, any make or color will be fine is there no problems with the car.

I have been wondering about Dena too, I hope she is doing well with everything.  Also Sandy hasn’t been around too much but I guess life just gets busy for all of us. There are quite a few who posted for a while and then disappeared.  If any of are just reading let us know what you are up to.   Well I better get cleaned up for the Doctor and my day.  You all have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, It is 46 and the sun is shining going up to 60* this afternoon.  We are to have nice weather this week.  I am waiting for the furnace man to come.  I’ll be back when he leaves and it is a little warmer in here.  Have a good one.  Lair

Good Morning, it is sunny here and 36* but the wind is out of the north at about 20 mph.  It will be chilly when I take the Smokey out, guess it coat time.  It is 54* in the kitchen this morning so I may need to get a coat for there also.  I hope they can get the furnace fixed tomorrow.  I made my list of things to do this week but I quit. Furnace repairman, visit the doctor, pay bills, go to the Vet, and go car shopping start the list.   I don’t want to do anything on the list and I won’t feel better once I get them done except for the furnace repair.  I didn’t mention that the local school came over on Friday and raked leaves.  Last year they did a wonderful job but this year was almost the opposite.  There were 16 kids that were out there and 4 had rakes and one with a large leaf bag.  The rest stood by the house out of the wind.  They were here about a half hour and filled 2 bags half full and were gone.  I even had to haul the bags to the curb for pick up.  Poor supervision is all I can figure.  Last year the gal was right there with the kids but this year the teacher was standing by the house with the kids and he was on the phone the whole time.  Oh well, better than nothing.

Today I am just trying to keep warm and get the recycling done.  Maybe bring some of my lawn sprays in the house so they don’t freeze.  I better keep moving so I don’t freeze in one spot.  You all have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, Not sure what the temp is outside, I’m distracted by the temp in here.  The furnace stopped working yesterday in the kitchen.  I got the local guy over and he fixed it so it worked fine.  I got up this morning to 48* in the kitchen and no heat.  Don’t think I can call him until Monday.  It will be a chilly weekend.  Got a call yesterday saying I was over my limit and my credit card has been closed.  I called and someone has charged thousands on my account for computers and music.  I started the process to get that cleared up.  I went to the drug store to pick up new diabetes test strips.  They gave me a new machine because my old strips are not made anymore.  I’m thinking this isn’t an improvement, the new one is half the size of the old one and the buttons are so small I need to use a pencil to hit them.  The strips are 1/4 the size of a postage stamps so I’ll need a tweezers plus I am on page 24 of the manual and still have not found out how to turn the thing on.  I wish they would realize smaller isn’t always better.  It is always something.

Well, I need to go and see what I can do about getting Smokey up and outside.  He is not getting any better but going the other way quickly.  Can’t do anything about it today because I can’t get him in my car alone.  Like I say ” if it isn’t one thing it is two. ” You all have a good day.  Lair

Hey Carol, glad to see you back!  The shingles shot was a problem for me.  The Doctor had to get permission to give it to me as it was elective.  The cost was to be $350.00  While I was waiting for weeks for insurance approval I talked to my pharmacist and she said for the doctor to write a prescription and she would give me the shot herself.  I called the doctor and it was done the next day.  If I can remember right the shot was under $20.00 and giving it was free.  I don’t know how they can get away with charging that much for the shot at the doctors office when the nurse gives it to you anyway.  I would try going that route but make sure it won’t effect Ray.  I didn’t find out until after I got the shot but Tim shouldn’t have been around me since he was having Chemo, he could have gotten it from me.  Lair

Good Morning Leroy and all to follow,  It is a sunny 47* here this morning. Should get up to 60 this afternoon but we will have a NW wind to keep us cool.  I went and got my blood drawn yesterday so that will be done for my next week appt.  Car worked fine but I still held my breath the whole time.  Andy came over yesterday after school and we worked on making hay for his field.  We strung dried moss like a necklace to make winrows to lay in his field.  We used dental floss for string and it turned out realistic enough.  Next thing is to make trees on a small scale.  Today I need to go the the drug store and pick up some pills.  Not sure what else I will be doing, hopefully the boys will come over to clean up a few more beds.

Carol, I was hoping to see you here this morning, I hope things get fixed soon. I would send you an email but not sure if you would get it.

Sandy, where are you this week?  I don’t think you have been on for a few days.  Let us know what’s up.

Mary, good to hear you have the weekend off.  A little time to relax.

Snow, busy, busy.  I’m still having trouble imagining planting things this time of the year.  Sure takes a lot of planning and care to do your job.

Jan, once you retire you will wonder how you ever had time to work.  At least my case.  Just like working full time without the check.

Sue, I know how tough it is to cut things back.  I brought in my Mandevilla this week and it is so full of flowers I couldn’t cut it anywhere.

Well, I’m drawing a blank on what to say next so I guess I will just say have a good dya.  Lair

Good Morning,  It is so bright here in my office I am having trouble seeing.  It is sunny and 44* here but going to be a wonderful day with a high in the 60′s.  I’m going into town and try to get in for my Tuesday appointment with the lab work I need done before my Doctor’s appointment I have next week.   It is just drawing blood so they should work me in.  One of the boys will be coming over to work on my fall list later.  If not today maybe tomorrow.  Didn’t get good report on my car.  I can drive it but he said I should only drive it to dealers in the next few weeks.  The same diagnosis as the dog and about the same amount of time. My Smokey isn’t doing as well the past couple of days so the shot must be wearing off.  I don’t know if I will get a nice used car or like Sandy just something to get me around.  My car looks so nice and like new in many ways but just no fixing it, at least not on my budget.

I got a text from Carol and she said she is without a computer.  She sent it from her phone.  I want to reply but not sure how to do it.  Hope she gets things working again soon.  Well, Tim is up so I’ll go and talk to him and try to get him to drive me to the appointment.  Be back later.  You all have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, This morning it is 52* going for a high of 55*.  We had rain all day yesterday and it is still raining this morning.  Just spitting now but in the last 24 hours we got 3.5″ in the rain gauge.  I took my car in yesterday and they wouldn’t let me drive it home so I am carless.  As far as price they would not even venture a guess.  When I asked about the tires he said to just wait until they could see if they could fix it first.  When I got home I found part of a steering rod in the driveway so that must be the problem.  Everyone who has ever worked on my car has asked if it was in a flood because of all the rust underneath it.  I bought it with 80 miles on it so who knows where it sat before I got it.   Anyway, nothing else is going right here so I will be back when the sun comes out.  Have a good day everyone.  Lair

Good Morning, it is 39* & sunny here this morning but I don’t think it will stay that way long.  It should be raining by noon and keep it up till Tuesday night.  We do need the rain.  Didn’t do much yesterday and hope to do less today.  I do have to get the trash and recycling together today.  Not feeling so good so everything else will have to wait.  My car brakes are making a noise so I’ll have to get that checked out tomorrow.  I guess when I am there I will finally get those tires put on.  I don’t have all my beds cleaned off.  There are still some area where it has to freeze before I can cut it back and dig the cannas.  I would like to cut some branches before winter too, maybe later in the week when we have 70* days.  Need to run, Have a good dya,  Lair

Good Morning, it is 36* here this morning but the sun is out and should get close to 60 today.  The next 3 days are rain then it will warm up if they are right.  Went shopping yesterday but didn’t bet much besides spray paint for my birdhouses.  Most of my old cans are dried up now.  Andy came over after school and worked until almost 7.  We got most of the stuff finished.  When he got home he called me and said he should have stayed here.  His folks had gone out to dinner and his sister was on a date so he was home alone. It didn’t sound right for him to come back so I told him I was too tired.  Today I am not going to do much besides a few house chores.  Easy day for Lair.  Little dusting and make some dinner for tonight will be enough for me.  You all have a good one.  Lair

Carol, the stuff I take to the curb is 90% gone within minutes the night before.  On Friday night before there is a parade of trucks with people grabbing everything.  Sorry you couldn’t sleep last night.  When anyone goes to a sale and come back for a truck can only mean one thing, they bought something big!

Snow, stop cutting yourself, it isn’t a good way to lose weight or get out of work.

Mary, give the little “winks” a pet for me.

Good Morning everyone,  It is 37* and the sun is out so it will be a great day with the high near 60*.  The next 3 days after today will be cooler with rain but then it will warm up again.  That will be good because it will be the fall clean up day when you can put things to the curb and the city picks them up for free.  I put so much out this spring so I don’t know how much I will have this fall.  Yesterday was a kick back day.  Got the carrots all put away and the GH watered which took hours.  Every plant needed different watering.  Now they will all be on the same watering schedule.  Andy came over for a couple hours and we worked on his models.  I think he is coming over today again and we will be painting.  I should say he will be painting with my directions.

Leroy, hope your eye improves with more treatments.  Sounds terribly unpleasant to deal with.

Carol, how’s the hair?  Same do or did you go for something new?  Sounds like you got the woodsman look with all the wood splitting you are doing.  Take it easy.  You should have a wood splitting party. Ladies make food and the men split wood.

Snow, what kinds of things are you transplanting?  I would think it would be hard to be thinking so far ahead.  Now when things are dieing outside and in the GH things are just starting, I’d get confused.  How’s the rental house coming?

Jan, you sure are having a tough time getting rid of this crap.  Hope you feel better soon.  Sandy, I guess you are off to work in your new car.  Have a good weekend.

Mary, I still think you should think about keeping your little winks.

I best get going, You all have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, It is a sunny 46* here this morning. Promises to be a great day with highs in the 60′s.  Yesterday was a great day.  I made a call to the neighbor with the 16 kids about the tomatoes.  We talked for almost a half hour.  She told me I was the most interesting man in town.  I guess my name is mentioned hourly around the house.  The things I did and how I think have the boys talking for hours every time they get home from working here.  She says I challenge their minds and the way of thinking without conflicting what they have been taught at home.  I guess the boys fight over who gets to come over here and work for me because they always have so much fun working.  The 15 year old came over to get the tomatoes plus he picked 2 garbage bags of spinach, a dozen carrots, and all the little peppers on the plants.  He said Mom was making soup and the little peppers would be good in that.  He stayed and cut all the raspberries plants off, plus cleaned all the plants off 2 other beds.  All the debris got hauled to the compost or burn pile.  I may do a burn next week before I shut down the well for the winter.  While he did all the rest I dug my carrots.  I got 3 five gallon buckets of nice big carrots.  I cleaned them and will put them in storage today.  Last year they lasted until Jan.   Tim didn’t get home from work until almost 9 and was in bed within a half hour.  A long day for sure.  Today I’m taking it easy but I may run out to the vets office and give the girls there some plants I have extras of around here.

Snow, my Gh is 10X16 feet.  I left maybe 30 oranges but will trim more off as they mature, right now it is hard to find them all.  After reading about your crawl space I had to go outside and get my breath.  I have claustrophobia ever since my Mother kept me in the oven. Just can’t handle those close places anymore.

Sandy, good luck with your car.  Reminds me of Tim’s first car after we moved here.  He bought a GEO for $100. He drove it for 2 years until it had trouble making it up hills.  I think it just needed a new rubber band but he traded it off.  Later he said he wished he had kept that car.  Slow on hills was nothing compared to the good gas mileage he got from it.

Jan, they taught me to put in eye drops after my eye surgery and it is so easy.  First tip your head back. Lay the bottle on your face between your eye and your temple. With the dropper end at the corner of your eye slowly turn your head and the fluid will drip out of the end right in the corner of your eye.  It will run across your eye ball and cleans the surface. No squinting or blinking, clean and easy.

Carol, you have a good day.  Don’t envy you getting a perm.  I am so glad that isn’t a thing guys do anymore.  Without a perm I still look funny just not weird.

Mary, How are your kitties this morning?    Have you named them?

Well I need to run and get cleaned up while Tim is having coffee and before he starts his laundry.  Be back later,  Lair

Mary, you like to talk about “God Winks” well I think this is one for sure.  They came to you in the middle of the night.  There must be some reason they didn’t go into the sewer with the rest of the family, I think they were left  for you.  They waited in the street until you came home.  Another “Wink” was when you took them across the state and the shelter wouldn’t take them.  You have to be seeing the picture by now.  They are so cute I wouldn’t mess up what was meant to be by taking them.  They were sent to you for you to smother with love and affection.  Enjoy their antics now because before you know it they will be old and just nap all the time.  It was just meant to be.  Lair
