Good Morning everyone.  It is a sunny 61* here this morning.  The weather guessers say clouds and rain today but so far they are wrong.  We don’t have anything over 80* in the 10 day forecast, again I hope they are right.  Yesterday I went out and did the edges of the yard with the weed eater.  That took almost 2 hours but I got it done.  It did sprinkle on me a couple times and I put the thing back on the charger but by the time it was charged it had stopped so I got the whole thing done.  I watched 2 Jurassic Park movies and got the recycling together.  My buddy called me from NM yesterday.  He just moved there from Denver to retire.  We have been friends for 44 years.  We moved from Minnesota to Colo together in ’75.  We talked for 2 hours.  That’s about all I got done all day.  Today I have asked Tim to help me with the refrig, every morning there is a puddle of water in front of it.  Don’t know where it is coming from.  We are going to pull it out and see if we can see anything from the back, then fix it.  It is 15 years old and I suppose it is going to need to be replaced soon.  They don’t make them like they used to.  I also want to plant a flowering crab tree.  I started it a few years ago in a pot and now it is time to plant it in the ground where the cherry tree was.  It is a little over 4 feet tall.  If I get that much done I may quit or if the mood strikes pull some more weeds just for the fun of it.

Carol, glad you have a good time at the reunion.  Should be interesting going with Ray to his classes.  I did that once with diabetes classes and got lots of good information.

Sandy, How was your weekend?  I looked over your pictures and felt overwhelmed.  Then I started thinking what my pictures would look like of what I needed to do.  that’s when I was hoping for a tornado to hit here.  That didn’t happen so now I am thinking fire, just kidding.

Mary, You must have been tired to fall asleep in the 18 miles to my house.  I used to sleep a lot in the car on trips.  Made Tim very upset with me, only because I was driving.  He still says “are you awake” at least every 2 miles.

Marilyn, how is the back today?  At our age we have to be careful with dirt diving.  Lucky me, I have the padding so I just bounce.  I hope you are healing quickly.

Leroy, good luck with the DR appointments.  How long do they say you will be off work and on the mend?

Snow, glad you found the time to stop by this morning.  If the saying is true “no rest for the wicked”  you must be one mean mother. lol  I hope you get some moisture soon.  We have been real lucky this year so far.  Just a little every other day, know on wood.

Caden, are you reading all this?  Stop in and let us know a little about yourself.  We are all so nosey.

Jan, busy playing solitaire?  Or maybe this week is busier.  Either way , have a good day.

I better get moving, everyone have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning,  Well, this is strange.  I type and no letters show up until I stop.  I am also getting an alert in the corner of the screen that I am using a high memory doing this.  Now another ad is playing (sound only) and I have not clicked on anything.  Well, anyway it is 65* and the sun is trying to come out.  We have had a couple showers this morning but nothing in the rain gauge.  I over did yesterday mowing so I am taking it easy so I don’t get the quivers again.  I feel I should do something around here if Mary comes but don’t think that will happen.  I mean doing something not Mary coming.  Getting a long distance call. be back

Good Morning everyone, it is 64* and sunny going to a high of 78*.  No rain until after midnight but tomorrow we will have rain all day.  I got the whole front yard mowed last night, sure looks nice.  Today I am heading out and try to get the back yard done.  We are to have rain every day this next week so it needs to be done.  Andy is at scout camp this week and gets home tonight.  I did some weeding yesterday but it was too wet and had to give up on it.  Don’t worry about my oxygen.  I take the hose out to where I am mowing and put it on a hook.  I stop and take a few hits when I need it without getting off the mower.  It would be nice if I could attach a tank to the tractor so I didn’t have to stop at all.  As far as my head goes it isn’t even sore today.  I put peroxide on it and the some new skin and it is healing fine.

Marilyn, I so sorry your back is giving you trouble.  Hope you get the kinks out soon.  Sounds like you will have to before you will need to be doing the back stroke.  We have had so much rain around us but we are lucky because it goes North or south of us with the heavy stuff.

Carol, is your family picnic tomorrow.  If it is I hope you are getting the weather we have today, it’s great.

Mary, how’s the new cultivator?  Charlene got one for her husband for Fathers day.  I don’t think they have tried it yet.

Snow, good to see you again.  do you have the weekend off.  You are sure due for one.

Jan, what are you up to this weekend?

Well, just talked to Andy and he can’t get here till Monday night so I better go and mow.  You all have a good day.  Lair

Good Morning, It is overcast and 57* today going up to a high of near 80*.  They say on and off rain all day so not to sure what I’ll be doing.  I did go out late yesterday and did some edging the then got out the lawn mower and mowed some of the difficult areas around the curved beds.  By going real slow I can get so much closer than the others do.  With the cooler temps and the clouds I can last almost 15 minutes before I have to stop and put on oxygen again.  I call it a breathing break.  I did find a bungee cord so I may try putting a tank on the tractor so I can stay mowing longer without a breathing break.  So tricky with those tanks being so round and slippery.  Think I’ll get moving before it does rain.  Be back later.  I hope everyone is feeling better and are ready for a good weekend.  Lair

Good Morning everyone, It is 57* and overcast.  I can hear thunder but it is a long ways off.  Where is everyone this morning?  I woke up a little before 6 and was going to gt up but the next time I opened my eyes it was 8 o’clock.  Sooo.. I’m running late but with the weather I don’t know where I’m running.  Yesterday was a good day.  Nice temps and I had one helper show up and we got the front corner cleaned up of Yarrow.  I have some in the corner but it is spreading both ways away from the mother.  We pulled roots (runners) for about 18′ each direction.  Ended up with 4 tractor loads of yarrow and then 3 loads of Forsythia branches.  My burn pile is getting to be impressive size.  Maybe next week I will burn it.  We have 10 days forecast with little rain so things will dry out enough to burn.  Today and tomorrow I am planning on edging the yard and maybe mow a little myself in between  the rains. Just looking at the date and it reminds me it was 50 years ago today that I married my first wife.  I might see if I can find her and give her a call.  Wonder if she would know who I am?  No I’m sure she does and she is probably thinking of me only not such good thoughts.

Carol, you have a god time with the reunion.  I hope you have good weather for it.

Marilyn, where are you?  I haven’t seen much of you posting the last couple days.  Hope things are OK.

Leroy, I liked the pictures of your plants.  They look like they are doing real good.

Mary, your plants look nice along your foundation.  I like the little pink flowers and should be an eye stopper when they fill in.

Sandy, what are you up to today.  I hope you got all rested up from your busy week and weekend.  Almost time to go back to work.

Hiker, Sue, what are you up to?  Is your son getting his list done?

Alma, are you recovering?  You have not been around as much lately.

Jan, Do you have a sale date yet?  I would hate that limbo.

Well, I best move along.  You all have a good day.  Lair

I don’t think you will have to water as much as you think.  The very top of your soil dries so fast because it evaporates into the air.  With the sawdust it will evaporate slower and the plants will have a better chance to grab some. Mean while the sawdust breaks down and provides nutrients for the plants.  If I were you I would use pails instead of bags when hauling them in your car, less mess.  Lair

May not be a sister but definitely related.  this one is a lot younger than my old girl.  My house is 152 years old this year.  Hard to believe someone was living in this house when they got the news there was a civil war going on.  Your picture looks like a great old house.  thanks,  Lair

Kathy, I’m no expert , all I can say is what I did.  I have since I lived here too.  I just take the saw dust out of the shop and spread it on the ground like I am making a pathway. maybe 2 inches thick.  I also go down the rows between the plants much like you do mulch.  Later when I weed I turn the soil just like normal.  before long and a few rains it is all gone but the ground holds moisture and doesn’t get so hard.  I don’t take all the plants out if they are already in the ground.  The only time I do a deep tilling is before I plant my annuals.  Covering the ground with sawdust will take care of the drying out problem and get you through till next year.  If you do happen to dig around any plants then by all means I would work some in sawdust.  I hope this will help in some way.  Lair

Good Morning, Just wanted to tell Kathy that years ago I had a garden like hers.  Not too far away there was a casket factory.  I called and asked them what thy did with their sawdust.  they told me to come over and I could have all I wanted.  That summer I must have made 10 trips with my trash cans.  I covered every square inch of the garden about 2 inches thick.  It kept the moisture in and the weeds down.  The next spring my dirt was so much better but I did it again that year.  By the third year after tilling I didn’t need anything added to the dirt.  I also covered the garden in the fall with leaves and let them rot before tilling.  Maybe where you work they have sawdust you can have.  Good luck, Lair

Good Morning, it is 61* and the sky is overcast but we are still getting enough sun to cast a shadow so it is bright.  They forecast rain this morning and then late afternoon some more severe thunderstorms with wind.  Hope it is another guess and dosen’t happen.  Just got all the branches cleaned up.  One of the boys may come over this morning but if he dosen’t that would be fine too.  Not feeling all that great today.  I didn’t get too much sun nor did I get hit by a branch.  I was out picking zucchini and cauliflower late yesterday.  When I cut things I use a filet knife out of my fishing kit. It is small and very share.  Well a fly flew by my face and was trying to land so I threw my hand up to shew it away.  I dropped my knife and was looking for it on the ground.  When bending over I realized I had it stuck in the side of my head just above my ear.  I came in the hose and looked in the mirror.  Strange but no blood or pain.  I removed it carefully and covered the area with peroxide.  I still have no pain or soreness and can hardly tell where it was.  I looked at it this morning with mirrors and unless you knew it was there you wouldn’t see it.  I’ll keep an eye on it and keep antibiotics on it for a few days.  Oh, someones here.  Got ot go.  Lair

Good Evening, I have been busy today and now I’m in a resting for the rest of the evening.  I did the stupidest thing today.  I’m not going to tell you what it is until next week because I don’t want everyone telling me how dumb I am.  Branches are a ll hauled to the burn pile and 8 more buckets of weeds pulled and watered so they can rot.  Looks like I will have to do some mowing tomorrow if it is dry enough.  The are saying more severe storms but I hope thye are wrong.  right now I need to get in front of a fan for a while.  Later, Lair

Hi there, I’m here and all is well.  We got all the downed trees chopped up and the fire wood hauled away.  We were without internet and telephone from 10 until around 5 and I have been busy since then.  Got a lot more to do so see you in the morning.  Lair

Good Morning, this will be a short one.  I got up to 78* and thunder.  By 8 we wee getting some light rain and by 9 a full blown storm.  Thye said it was 90 mph winds and 15,000 lightning strikes per hour.  All of our neighbors are without lights and no street lights.  Our electricity comes across the back yard but all the houses around us it comes down the street where all the trees are down.  the storm has moved thru and we are just getting rain now but another storm will hit us in an hour or so.  I can only see a couple large branches in our yard and I hope I can say that after the next storm.  I want to check the rain gauge but it is raining too hard to go out there.  OK, more lightning starting so I’m getting off the computer.  Later, have a god one.  Lair
