Just at the entrance doors themselves, was this device my son asked me what it was.  It was a huge ‘boot cleaner’ that apparently had been made many years before and been well used.  Just a reminder that at one time the land was bare ground up to the Abbey and this was used to help keep the floors clean.

Today’s last photo was taken on our way even further west, on a drive we took on the advice of one of the employee’s of Glenlo Abbey.  He told us that this drive (which he showed us on a map) was one where we’d see the most beautiful part of Ireland.  He was right!  While the roads were narrow and ‘curvy’ in both direction’s (up-down; left-right) and the further west we went, the more magnificent it was…and we ALWAYS had to watch out for animals on the road.

Hello and thanks for sharing all the pictures.

Clif, sure am enjoying your tour of Ireland with you and pretty country and buildings, too.  Golf accommodations and courses are usually more expensive to stay at and eat, too.  But only go this way once, so nice to stay where the accommodations are so nice.

Like the birds you posted, CatsBirds.  Hodgepodge is A-OK any day.

Like the scrub jay and Lollie out in the yard, too.

Steve, the azaleas are a pretty bush along your house.  A favorite of mine.

Good you snapped your tulips before the rains hit Ohio, too.  We are expected rain for rest of week.

Spring is in the air here, with buds getting larger on the trees and lilies coming up in flowerbeds amidst other plants poking through the ground.  I just ordered more lilies to plant when they get here.

Nice Kimberly will get her prom dress fitted today, and the guard dogs nice and patiently waiting.  You do a great job with the rescue dogs.  And, how is Starla today?

    Morning

Great pictures yesterday and so far today.  I sure have learned a lot about birds from visiting this post.

We had lots of wind and rain last night.  No rain now but still lots of wind.  Hubby and I are quite content this morning to just be lazy.  We had a busy day yesterday.  A good friend of ours wanted us to meet them to go see a truck, well they have larger noses today–Pinocchio–.  We got in their car and away we went.  Went past the Boys and Girls club and they said, oh there’s a train show in there I’d like to see before we go to the truck.  Pulled in and in the doors we went.  When we got inside I heard son’s laughter and the light bulb went off.  They had a surprise 50th Wedding Anniversary party for us.  Our anniversary was last week, on Good Friday, 4/18.  So we had a very nice afternoon and evening with family and friends.  IF I ever get any of the pictures, I’ll post a few.  Son tells me he will get them to me, I’ve heard that before.  I do know the ones who took us there said they will keep on him as they gave us a very pretty picture frame to put our picture in when we get some pictures.

Now for some of you who like the old cars I will show a few that we saw at the show several weeks ago.

Gkids3, I hope you had a GREAT Anniversary time.  That little Crosley car reminded me that many, many years ago one of my relatives had a little Crosley car she drove and she told me this story.  It was so small that one day when she got home from somewhere in town, a group of College Boys surrounded her car; picked it up with her inside it, and set it on her front porch…with her inside.  Laughing, they ran off.  She had to get a bunch more to come back and put it back down so she could drive it.  LOL  Now THAT was a small and lightweight car!!!!
