This weekend, I’m challenging my fellow garden-lovers to find and post 30 plants with animal names. Try to find photos from your own files if you can – if not, you can post some from seed websites etc. (be sure to credit the original source).

I’ll get you started with Lion’s Ear (Leonitus leonurus):

1 down, 29 to go. Let’s see if we can get the rest by Sunday night!

Stella….sorry, but I don’t think Butterfly is an animal….but I guess Jill is making the rules here, not me….lol.

The only thing I can think of is Tiger Lily which you already have & Bear’s Breeches which I don’t have a picture of.

Charlene, a butterfly is not a plant either…..LOL.  If it doesn’t belong on this thread maybe Jill can remove it.  I have no objection.

OK, I’ve got a count of 14 so far (and yes, butterfly counts, Stella!). I’ll give you Lizard’s Tail (Saururus cernuus), a Florida’ wetlands plant:

And now we’re halfway there! Come on, I know we can do it!

Like I told you, Jill….this is a real challenge!  If we could expand animals to mammals, I have several plants with people’s names…..lol
