Last weekend, I challenged our Community to post photos of all the state (US) and provincial (Canada) birds. This weekend, let’s see if we can post photos of all the official state and provincial flowers. The only rule is that you can’t just go out on the web and find a photo someone else took – it has to be from your own files.

When you post the photo, be sure to tell us what flower it is and what state(s) or province(s) it represents. (You do NOT have to have taken the photo in the associated state.)

    See the lists here:

We have until Sunday night… think we can do it? I bet we can! Ready, set… go!

(If you’re new here and need help with photos, see this post on our Community Help page. http://www.birdsandblooms.com/community/topic/how-to-insert-images-into-posts/)

Gayle, I’ve always wondered why PA’s state flower wasnt dogwood, as it grows wild all over the place in PA.  You could be out in the middle of the woods somewhere, & out of nowhere you could spot a dogwood tree growing in the wild, not planted by human hands!

This is my neighbor’s pretty pink dogwood tree.  Hope it wasnt too damaged in last month’s big ice storm!

Iowa’s state flower is the Wild Prairie Rose….they will take over a garden, so I don’t have any growing here.  Although, since my luck at growing roses isn’t so good, I maybe would even kill them….lol.  Charlene

Maine is the pine cone…. not the prettiest, but it has its place.  Sorry trouble figuring out how to add photos.

Wisconsin’s State Flower is the Wood Violet.  It grows in the ditches here and there.  I don’t have a picture of it growing here, but I have one in my files and I don’t remember where it was taken.  I have way too many flower pics in my photobucket, and way too many on my computer. I have to clean some of that up soon.

Wood violet is below the other flowers near the ground.  It is light lavender in color.
