Some of you are still covered in snow, but others are seeing hummingbirds already! Here’s a tracking map site where you can submit your sightings, but I also thought it would be fun for folks to report their sightings here, especially if they have photos to share.

So, bookmark this page and come back here to share your first spring sightings of males (they come back first) and then females. Be sure to share your general location so people know where to expect them next, and post a photo or two if you’re lucky enough to get them!

Here’s the map from Hummingbirds.Net as of today, 3/18/2014:

Looks like they have a ways to go before they reach SE Iowa.  Usually the last week in April we see them here.

I see California is not on your map but I wanted to share that there are a few new Hummingbirds in my backyard. I am not sure if they are babies but they look small. We had a very mild winter so my resident Ruby Throated Hummingbird never left! I can’t wait for my gar dent to bloom.

Every year we get our first sighting around mother’s day…..May 11th up to the 17th.  I just hope that there will be no snow on the ground!  If I were a hummingbird I would pass this information before venturing out north…..!

I stopped by to check out your map Jill.

I keep checking with hummingbirds migration map online and it seems it’s hardly changing. But I see your’s is the same.

They almost always arrive here in southern Ohio between April 19th-24th. They have for years now.

So we’ll see if the weather will slow them down any.
