So very sorry to hear this.  I hate it when a child gets in trouble and the parents always say, but he or she is such a good kid.  Or Oh my child would never do that.. That’s because the parent is never there to know what the kids are doing.

Report it…make a report anyway.. tell the sheriff you want it on file.  And if something happens again, don’t hesitate to call them, right away.. Enough is enough.  The 14 year needs to go to juvie… best thing that could happen to him…

What I want to know is if he has done all this other damage, fires, vandalizism , why isn’t he already in juvie?  That is horrible the amount of damage he has done. What was done about it? Was he made to make restitution? His parents had to pay?

Today at the Steve Harvey show, he had this sign from somebody very upset::  “Stealing Plants, it’s a low and selfish act…What is next stealing kittens? “

Charlene, I’m so very sorry to hear this and I can understand why you’re upset I would be too. I just don’t understand people today. It’s especially hard as they are neighbors.

Oh dear!  Charlene, I just read this and feel so bad for you.  There is nothing more I can add that hasn’t already been said…..but I still feel terrible this has happened for you.  I know you will feel so insecure every time you leave your house now…..even with it locked.

It seems like so many of us have to deal with one of ‘those’ neighbours.  I was forced to put security cameras all around my property to try and protect it.  The man that lives on the property next to mine has tried to terrorize me, has threatened me and has destroyed parts of my property for the last two years.  Since he knows now he’ll be on camera, he has backed off but still watches for opportunity to try and hurt me.

The price of security cameras has paid for themselves in the comfort they give me.  You may want to consider this.   Not terribly expensive and if any further problems arise, you will have it on film.  My son placed the cameras in birdhouses (which he altered for them) so they would not detract from the gardens and such.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers that those delinquents will not seek revenge for your confronting them and reporting them to parents and police.

Noreen….why in the world would anyone want to terrorize you?????  You are one the most kind and easy going person I have ever met.  It is funny you should mention the cameras….DH and i have talked about that today.  We may just do that!  Sad to think that it has to come to that. but what can you do?  Charlene

Charlene, I don’t know if young delinquents would think twice about the fact they would be caught on camera (if they have went into stores and shop lifted which have cameras), but since the problem person here is a man, he avoids letting anyone else know what he does.  He was furious when I had pictures of him on my property for the police.  But, to my knowledge he has stayed off my land since then.  He is a very strange person and many people think he has a mental problem.  He seems to have many problems with many people.

In this picture, if you can see the birdhouse next to the steps.  If you look carefully, you can see one of the camera’s lights inside it.  I have three cameras that covers all the approaches to my property.

Good idea for sure Noreen.  We have put small stickers in the windows here letting people know that the property is being watched by a security company.  That wards off any vandalism that anyone thinks about doing around here.  As far as the land itself, for we have another lot we own,  we have had the mental case across the street try to damage our fence with his plowing by shoving snow through the fence as hard as he could shove it there.  I took pictures of him doing it and called the sheriff.  It is not a trespass either so he can do it, but he cannot destroy the fence.  However, I got the report just in case he damages the fence so I can take both the neighbor who lets him do it and him to court.  One can go to the court house and get papers to file a civil suit against the neighbor who is damaging the property.  I now take pictures of how it looks before and will continue to do so just in case that happens again.  We are also going to put up a steel fence all along that line this fall.  Any damage from plowing against that fence will surely end up in court.  I am not backing down with these people.  I will be making my daily walk through there today again.  This also reminds me to pick up the cop report on the neighbors dog that got away and threatened my husband.  I need to get one from the town and county.

Hiding in a bird house is a great idea.

Hope those kids get some help – or your town will just have more deliquints that will steal bigger things.

    They need lots of help!!!

    Hope your plants are surviving.

I don’t blame you! A couple of times my children brought me flowers and I knew they weren’t mine, I marched their little behinds over to where I thought they had gotten them. The lady said it was okay and I said they had to ask her before they could do that. And the lady wouldn’t even answer the door?

Noreen, so sorry you have terrible problems w/ a neighbor as well! Ever thought about moving!  I had a family of 6 living in a 1 bedroom apt below me for over 2 yrs.  Parents of the kids were pot heads, also sold drugs.  The 4 kids were all fathered by diff fathers, same mother.  They were brat kids &:tried to bully all the rest ofus here, especially me!  Extremely loud & noisy, too! I tried calling cops on them, just made matters worse & she would claim I was making nothing but false charges! Then the brat kids started throwing stones at my windows, etc.  I finally called child svcs on the mother, as I knew she beat them & you wouldnt believe the mess their apt was all the time!  Being as the kids’ school had contacted child svcs on them, too, things turned around in my favorc& those ppl finally left & moved away!  Thank goodness!  I learned a lot in dealing w/ those ppl!

Sorry to read this, Charlene, what can I say.  Some kids now days have no respect.  I know this as I worked at a school for 10 years, I was send to the high school for 2 weeks, worst thing.  If the parents don’t care what can we do.  I so enjoy living out in the country, no kids.  When we lived at the lake, some of the kids were so bad, stole my outdoor Christmas displays.   First flowers what come next??

I think I would get some cameras.   I also agree with Gary.

You have my sympathies in having to deal with the kids as well as the moronic ? ( I don’t know what to call them-because they aren’t parents)

Very sad all the way around.  It’s not going to change and we (the taxpayers) will end up footing the bill for these kids eventually one way or another, if not already.  I just don’t get it because your situation seems to be all to common anymore and there is no excuse other than lack of parenting and both parents are in the house!  I have had my fair share of criminal elements that I have had to deal with and destructive kids.  One time was flowers too!

The scary thing is, if that boy goes to Juvie he may come out learning a whole lot more and how to beat the system.  I agree that he does need to go to Juvie but he may be a force to be reckoned with when he gets out and when will it end?  Especially since he has no parental involvement..

Camera’s are a good suggestion and definitely start locking your doors even if you are working in the yard.   A split second is all it takes…

The sad thing about all this ,is you can’t leave the house without checking that everything is locked up . That these children are not having to take responsibilities for their actions and continue to do as they damned well please . and the parents are avoiding the issues with these children . Charlene Maybe you should have them work off the damage they have done and by keeping them busy they are not getting into other trouble . I’m sure you could find some work outside for them.

After reading through all the replies again I have to agree with the idea of keeping your doors locked (All doors).

If they are going into your GH & getting into other trouble in the town & no consequences for doing so at some point they are going to wonder what else they can get away with.
