Anyone can give their answer here, and I will post the answer I have in my Book from the Audubon Society at the end of the week.

Q: How long do birds live?

It really depends on what bird it is. But looking at the book I have and glancing through it, anywhere from 12-16 days. But it really varies on what bird.

My thought smaller bird shorter life span and larger bird longer life span.  I can’t even guess actual years.  I think it my vary.

I’m kinda with Dena. I would think most of our backyard birds maybe something like 4 or 5 years and other birds such as hawks more like 10 years but I’m just making a guess here.

I do believe the birds live All of their life :)   Really hard to say due to so many different kind and  different locations.

Well it does depend on the size of the bird. They do banding and this is one of the only ways they have to come up with an estimate. Due to weather, predators, being hit by auto’s, planes etc and disease this is all a factor of the length of time. So there is not a direct correct answer for this. Larger birds can live up to 20 years or more, small songbirds and smaller birds 6 to 12 on a average. Many only live two years or less, especially new born babies.
