I’m in need of assistance for choosing a good pair of binoculars. I was recently awarded points at work to choose a gift. There are several different types of binoculars and I don’t know what the numbers mean.

My current one are 7×35 and I don’t feel they are strong enough. How can I tell which would be best?

The first number (in this case 7) is the magnification, and the second number is the lens diameter (35mm). The larger the lens diameter, the brighter the image will be. I recommend not going below 8 magnification. My pair is 10X32 and works great for bird watching.

Thanks. I think there was one with those numbers. I’ll look today and report back what I find. I may have more questions.

The one that is available is from Konus. It is a 8-24 x 50 zoom.

I have never heard of Konus.

I’ve heard of Konus, but don’t really know how good they are. Also, I’ve never tried zooming binoculars.

Ok, we are going to find out. :)
I selected it as my gift. I should have them in about a week.
