    Tufted Titmouse

I hung feeding baskets in the trees full of sunflower seeds and peanuts. a Tufted Titmouse flies away from the feeding basket with a peanut.
I purchased my baskets from the Goodwill store.

Sue thats a really good picture. Tufted titmice really do like peanuts. I have a peanut feeder and they really enjoy those as well as the peanuts that are mixed in with the bird seed I feed the birds.

And here the squirrels or grackles would clean them out in about 15 min. flat.  A great picture BTW

My squirrels would love that! They would be emptied in a very short time.

So you line the basket before you add seed to it?

I don’t line my baskets so the rain water will drain out and leave the seeds dry.  I get my baskets at the Goodwill cheap.  If one wears out I can replace it.  Thank you for asking.

Sue – What a terrific idea! May I write about it (with full credit to you, of course) in an upcoming post here on the Birds & Blooms blog? I’ll be a doing a post in a couple of weeks about recycled ideas in the garden, and this would be just perfect!

I loved your idea… I got a basket that same day, out of my many baskets hanging in our basement. The birds love it. I have posted quite few pics of it on my daily picture post.

Today I got a double basket from GW….going to see what the birdies think of it..lol

Super idea.  Beautiful photos.  I’ve been wondering what to do with the baskets I have in my basement.  I hated throwing them out.  Now I have good use for them.  Thanks Sue for sharing your idea and pictures.
