Hi ALL WBs!  We started out at 46 with a prediction of rain showers starting mid morning, but didn’t get any.  It stayed cloudy mostly and got to 70.

I did some gardening this evening after spraying myself up really good.  My Shasta Daisies died out after a couple of years so I started more from seeds and just transplanted those into a different flower garden.  The GKs wanted to plant something so I started Zinnias for them and tonight DGD helped me plant them in the veggie garden which is the most sunny place I had room.

Marnee,  the last Triple Crown races were won in the 1970s before they changed the rules.  I don’t think there will ever be another Triple Crown winner the way they have it now.  I didn’t watch any of the races for years after seeing some horrific accidents.  I probably won’t watch anymore either since it’s so unfair.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi All,

We started at 73 degrees, it’s 90 overcast degrees now with a 50% chance of rain. This morning I transplanted the Red Leaf Begonia we bought at the church market this weekend, that will make Joyce happy. I also made a new metal base for a brass replica of the Liberty Bell that I bought back in March, it wouldn’t fit in a wall shelf unit, now it does. It’s below a large brass eagle, got a little theme going on there :-)   I wasn’t in the mood to work on the driveway berm this morning, maybe I will tomorrow morning.

    Mm, how is Lollie?

Marilyn, like the pics! I am actually looking for a small townhome!

Terry, Liberty Bell, eh?  I have been to the real thing many times here in Philly!  Lol!

Pat, I did mean yourvpond, not really vernal pool!  Lol!  Dont really know what a vernal pool is, to tell you the truth!  How about some pics!

Good afternoon everyone, after morning clouds its 67° with sunshine and our daytime highs are expected to be in the low to mid 70s.

The painting crew is here again today. Yesterday they did the prep work and today they are painting my house. I’m having the house painted Vanillin that’s a cream color, the roof is now Resawn Shake that’s a light brown. The new gutters are a dark brown so all the trim will be in dark brown and the cement on the patio will be proper gray.

Marg, in answer to your question; Lollie seems to have gained back some of the weight she lost. At first it wasn’t too hard to give her insulin injections and now she seems to anticipate it and fights it. So it’s a struggle every time. She had another appointment with her eye specialist Thursday morning and one with her Vet Thursday afternoon.

Today has been a really sad day in Oregon. There was a Shooting at one of the High Schools in the Metro area this morning. Police say a lone gunman armed with a rifle opened fire at Reynolds High School this morning, killing one student and injuring a teacher. The
Sheriff’s Office said the gunman is also dead and the situation has stabilized. I have been watching the new all morning and they are saying the teacher was grazed by a bullet and his injuries were not life-threatening. It was really a scary time for students, parents, family and teachers. A large crowd of parents waited for students to be released, a process that took hours.

    Have a good afternoon every.

Hi ALL WBs!  We started out at 50 and got to a partly cloudy, breezy 78 today.

It was a busy day today.  The GKs wanted to go to the park so I dropped them and DH off there and went to get groceries and two bike lifts from Farm & Fleet.  They are a pulley system that we can raise our kayaks to the ceiling of the garage…….right from the floor.  Kayaks aren’t very heavy, but are sure clumsy when trying to get straps around them hanging from the ceiling to hang them up.
This afternoon I cut lawn, trimmed and pulled weeds in the garden.  Got my beans planted too!

Marg,  Our vernal pool is a low place that holds water for only a couple of months out of the year from run off from snow melting or heavy rain.  It has a couple of Swamp Cabbages growing in it and just long grass….nothing photogenic.  But it is the only place that the Blue-Spotted-Salamander hatches.  We find them under things around the yard in the late summer.  They are only about 3 inches long full grown.

Marnee,  your house sounds like it will be really pretty when it is all done.
I heard about that shooting on the news tonight.  I can’t believe what is happening in this country!

I don’t know if anyone heard, but two 12 year old girls stabbed another girl 19 times in Milwaukee recently.  She survived and is doing well.  The two girls did that because of some online character!

Marilyn,  neat pic of the pine cone!

Going kayaking tomorrow and am hoping to get some new pics.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Hi All,

We started at 68 rainy degrees, it’s 72 overcast degrees now. DW came out this morning and said the water was running slow, I went out and gave the pump switch a rap, fixed that until the next time. I noticed that our 1.5″ of rain had washed dirt from under our berm bricks, I’ll get back on that project later. I looked out the kitchen window some 15 minutes later and saw a tree top across the driveway, ended up being two 3″ dia. by 20′ tall sprouts that grew on the side of a old oak stump, I moved them out of the drive….What’s going to happen next

Joyce picked three more ripe tomatoes when she got home yesterday, she’s keeping a close eye on “her” tomatoes :-)

Marg…..The real Liberty Bell got melted down and recast twice, I think what you saw was the third attempt of making the bell. I don’t think it rings, they “tap” it for special occasions. Mine was made by J.I. Houck in Pottstow PA, it really rings

Marnee…..I saw all about the shooting, people are doing whatever the media makes a big deal out of, copycats  One of the recent “shootings” was a guy that stabbed his three male roommates to death before going and shooting two or three more, the media didn’t say much about banning knives :?:

Pat……I have a old set of surf racks in the barn, my 9’1″ and 9′ 10″ surf boards have been hanging there since October 13, 2000, I last used the big one on my 54th birth day. They weigh between 30 and 35 pounds.

I saw about the girls stabbing their friend, blame it on more of that “video” garbage that so many people are watching :-(

Good morning everyone, its 58 degrees and overcast this morning. We are supposed to see sunshine this afternoon with temps warming up to upper 70s lower 80s.

At long last the roofing and gutters and painting is done. The painters finished yesterday.

I took pictures last evening so have a few shadows.

Marilyn, that’s a pretty pine cone.  I don’t know anyone at the school where the shooting was yesterday. The PE teacher and track coach at the school, was also wounded and dispite his injury managed to initiate the school lock down procedure, likely saving countless lives. The student victim was a 14 year old  freshman, described as a “great kid” who loved playing on the school soccer team.  Really sad prayers for the family.

Pat,I did hear about that 12 year old girl; IMO there are to many violent shows and games. I don’t watch very much on TV anymore as I don’t find anything to watch.

Terry, the media just likes a story and I can’t believe the stupid questions they ask. Asking the students and parents how they feel. The parents were waiting to reunited with there children.

    Hi Janis,  Marg, Hiker, Grace, Jill, MaryAnn, MaryinMI and all that follow. Asking the students and parents how they feel;

    Have a great day everyone.

Hi ALL WBs!  We started out at 57 and are going to 83, sunny, low humidity and a nice breeze.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and went kayaking on the Fisher/Chippewa Rivers this morning.  I saw a Blue Heron walking on the bank…….got a lousy shot as it was flying away and a family of geese walking away from the water in the tall grass, so no pic.  Then I saw an eagle perched in a tree overhanging the Chippewa and got lots of pics from angles below it.  I have to see if I can ID it before I post a pic.

Marnee,  your house is very pretty!  Were those the colors you had before?

    Have a great day everyone!

Pat, before the colors were, gray for shingles, Cameo for the  house, and the trim and gutters were a chocolate brown; the lawn shed was brown with white trim.

Now the house and lawn shed both have Resawn Shake shingles ( light brown)

The house and lawn shed are Vanillin, a cream color with dark brown trim. The dark brown trim was to match the color of the rain gutters.

Hi Everyone! Had a slight shower but looked like it was going to be a lot more. Got to 79º today and very humid but after the shower it cooled down a lot.

I don’t know what is wrong with people any more. That is all you hear on the news, so many shootings & stabbings & robberies.Beating and fighting smileys…….Thanks and hope you had fun on your kayaking……………Glad you had a nice time kayaking.

    Hi All,

We started at 67 degrees, it’s 85 sunny degrees now. This morning I  fertilized our vegetable plants with some MG plant food and then drove down to the fish camp. I just went to look around and recover fishing floats and whatever else I could find using my 16′ telescoping rod. I found enough floats, lures, hooks and  sinkers to rig my rod and reel. There were oak worms all over the ground so I tried my luck….no bites at all but I sure had fun giving it a try :-)

A coworker rooted enough roses to give Joyce and her staff each a 10″ tall rose plant. It’s a light pink Rosa X ‘Cecile Brunner’ climbing type, now it’s up to me to keep the plant alive  The kids and GS left for Disney this morning, I hope it doesn’t rain them out down there.

Marnee……I see you have a antenna, we have two, but  what I could really use is a garage like yours :-) The media is so self-centered,  it’s all about how cute they can   be while trying to report the news :-(

Pat….I’ve watched people kayaking in the bayou, we’ve got gators as big as those things  They do look like fun, I wouldn’t be able to stand up after being in one for ten minutes.

Marg…..The tropical low that was in the Yucatan last week fell apart. There’s a hurricane in the Pacific right now, it’s their second for this season.

Marilyn…..I’ve got lots of work to keep me busy around here, that’s why I went to the fish camp this morning, I couldn’t decide on which project to work on first

Hi ALL WBs!  We have a wonderful mosquito-free day here today!  It is way too windy for them, gusting up to 30 mph.  We started out at 54 and are going to 68 with low humidity.  Rain showers that passed through last night barely wet the ground.

Marilyn,  those are cute pics of the mules!

Terry,  my only problem with the kayak is getting out of it!  lol!  I manage, but it isn’t like watching our limber DGD getting out of hers!

I have the ID on the eagle I saw yesterday.  It is a Golden Eagle.  I thought maybe a juvenile Bald Eagle since there are alot of them around including a nest a few minutes paddle upriver from where this one was.  I couldn’t get in good light for the shot because I would have had to be on the bank and then wouldn’t have seen the eagle at all in the tree overhanging the river.  I saw one once before on the farm, but this is the first time I’ve gotten a pic of one.

Hi WWBs!  Its been quite a stormy week all wk so far, temps just Iin the low 80s at best!  Been on the cool side, which is fine by me!  Except we could use a little sunshine about now to help things grow!  Geting a bit worried about stuff getting root rot! Going to see a house tomorrow I am interested in!  Say some prayers that this is it!  Lol!

Marilyn, great pics!  We have those guys along my road here, also, being as its Amish country!  Some Amish use mules, some use the Belgium work horse, some use regular type tractors, some use the tractors that dont have rubber wheels!  Lol!

Mm, do you have a pic of what the house looked like w/ the other paint on it?

Pat, love your eagle pic! What a good shot!

Terry, I hear the hurricane season wont be so active this yr!  Let us only hope & pray!  Dont need another Sandy!
