Southeast Readers… What Do You Want to See?

Jill Staake

One of my favorite things about writing this blog is that I get to learn just as much as I inform. While I have lots of knowledge to share with you, I also know there’s plenty I don’t know, and I love getting your questions and looking into the answers. I’ve never had a Baltimore Oriole in my own backyard, but I had so much fun researching the basic facts, along with feeder ideas and migration info, and then sharing all that with my readers.  Soon, I’ll be doing the same for Painted Buntings at a reader’s request, and I can’t wait to see what I’ll learn.

So, it’s with true interest and excitement that I ask – what else do you want to know about, Southeast region readers? The Birds & Blooms Facebook page posed this question last week, and I saw some requests specific to the Southeast, but I’d love to hear from more of you. I hope you’ll all drop by the comments and request a topic for future posts. In addition, please tell me about events coming up in your area that you think others should know about, along with places you love like gardens, parks, and other great birding locations. This blog is for you as readers, and I want to make sure you’re getting the information you want and need.

So, come on, folks, it’s time to fill up the comments section with your questions, ideas, and requests. I want to hear from you!

P.S. While you’re dropping by the comments section, I’m dropping by the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival in Orlando. Look for a post with links to pictures later this week!

My red roses are giving me new shoots/growth with very different leaves, like “frilly” or fern-like…it gets mid-day and afternoon sun, in a corner of my house, facing so./west…it blooms well, and I trim it after it does…why is it not consistent with the rest of the plant? Thank you.
A new bird was in my front lawn…resembling a Balt. Oriole but I could not match it from my Petersen’s book (old one!)… but it had a bright, very bright yellow circle around the eyes…it was feeding on the lawn: I did not move (nor breathe!) and it came to the front door where I was standing, two feet away…it was magical! Pleas let me know what it could be?! Thank you very much…I love B&B…
