Each year, in late June, the latest Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, or Duck Stamp, is released. Sure, the stamp was originally just for hunters but now, everyone that loves birds should consider buying one. 98% of the $25 cost goes directly to the Migratory Bird Conservation Fund. It might be hard to believe but since the stamp was released in 1934, over five million acres of habitat have been saved.
The stamp doesn’t just have conservation benefits either. It also serves as a pass to all national wildlife refuges that have a fee. I recommend buying the Duck Stamp through an organization such as the American Birding Association. This way, we can keep track of how many stamps birders buy. This allows us to track how much of a conservation impact birders are having though this program.
