Although BirdCast has been around for awhile, it seems that many birders have never heard of it. We all know that migration is an exciting time. We would also all love to know what birds we could expect the see each week as migration progresses. Each weeks, they offer a migration forecast to show what you can expect to see. This forecast is broken down into regions so no matter where you live, BirdCast is relevant for you. You can see the most recent forecast (March 31 – April 7, 2017) here.
This is partially made possible through the ever growing popularity of eBird. The data that citizen scientists submit is used when creating these forecast. It’s just one amazing way that this data is being used.
