Birdhouse Guidelines

Just as habitat matters, so does the birdhouse. Make sure you're offering the right size birdhouse for the bird you want to attract.

    Sawdust fill for some of these boxes may get wet and mushy… wood shavings of small animal bedding is preferred.

    Your missing some birds. What about cardinals, blue jays, robins and a few others should be listed.

    I’ve got bird houses that are painted bright colors, are twisted and curved, and have Eastern bluebirds, Carolina Wrens, and Sparrows that live in them each year. Have so for many years. Have friends with the same bird houses and they all have birds living in them.

    I found it easiest to clean out bird houses that swing open in front or side, instead of roof. Also, a couple of “finish nails” are used instead of expensive hinges, saving $$!
