Rosebushes Won't Bloom

Two of my favorite rosebushes won't bloom anymore. The flowerless stems, however, grow like crazy. I have to cut them back to keep them from taking over. Is there anything I can do to get these roses to flower?

Rusty Lawn

For years, I've had problems with "rust" in my lawn. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again this summer?

Seed Crossing

If different varieties of daylilies--or irises, for that matter--are planted close together, will each plant continue to stay true to its original form? If not, how far apart should the plants be?

Seed vs Sod

Installing a swimming pool ruined my lawn. Should I reseed or sod instead?

Sharing Rhododendron

We've shared cuttings of our rhododendron with friends, but they've never been able to get them to grow. How do you start a rhododendron from a cutting?

Slime Flux Bacteria

A grand willow in our front yard excretes a foul-smelling brownish liquid from the crotches of the tree. A local arborist called it "slime flux," bacteria that can be killed by putting household bleach on the oozing matter. So far, it hasn't done anything. Do you have suggestions?

Something Eating Magnolia

I planted a saucer magnolia 5 years ago. The first few years, it blossomed beautifully. Since then, something eats the blossoms before they open, causing them to drop. The local garden center suggested using spray that keeps deer and squirrels away. That didn't help. Any suggestions?

Spraying Landscapes in Fall

Can I spray my landscape in fall to prevent disease problems next season?

Tall Red-Leafed Plant

My husband, Herman, and I noticed this unusual plant in our daughter's yard. It has vibrant red leaves and grows up to 6 feet tall. What kind of plant is it?

Tending Hollyhocks

I started growing hollyhocks, which bloom for 6 weeks. How do I care for them once the blooms fade?
