High Iron Harming Plants?

Will the high iron content in our well water harm my plants? I regularly water during the growing season.

Melinda:

The iron content in well water is usually not harmful to common landscape plants. Thisis especially true where the soil pH is 7.0 (neutral) or higher (alkaline or sweet). Iron toxicity is more likely to occur, if at all, in acid soils.

Have your soil tested if plants exhibit unexplained brown spots, or you want to be sure the levels are safe for healthy plant growth. Contact your local office of the Extension service for soil test information.
