Geraniums Won't Bloom

After my geraniums bloomed all summer, I replanted them in pots and moved them to my garage for winter, where they stayed green and healthy looking. This past year, however, they wouldn't bloom again. What went wrong?

Melinda: A change in growing conditions can prevent plants from flowering. Extreme heat, excess shade and overfertilizing are a few common culprits. This spring, about 2 months before placing the plants outdoors, try pruning them back 4 to 6 inches above the soil. As the plants begin to grow, apply a flowering-plant fertilizer. This will encourage fuller growth and promote flowering.
