What do seed-eating birds feed their young?

George: Seed-eating birds almost always feed their young insects. Common backyard birds, such as cardinals, chickadees and blue jays, are primarily seed-eaters as adults, but feed their young high-protein food like caterpillars, spiders and flying insects well after they've left the nest.
