Take a tour of Tom Clark's backyard, where he created a beautiful water garden, all by accident.
Tom Clark of York, Maine, and his menagerie of pets, relax between the many pools and waterfalls. The backyard project took Tom 15 years to complete, but it looks like he's now reaping the rewards of his hard work. Read on as he shows you more of the project through the years...
The Very Beginning
"Here's the start of the big pond. The size is deceiving...but if you can spot one of my shovels on the rocks on the right-hand side, you'll get an idea of the overall size of this project."
Keeping Cool
"Because I enjoyed cooling down in my little pond, I decided to expand it."
Sizable Endeavor
"The overall length of the water feature is almost 90 feet. The deepest part of my lower pond is 10 feet."
Love the View
"My platform, where the chairs sit is about 8 feet wide, and the wall in front of the chairs is 14 feet tall."
Soothing Sounds
"There are 10 waterfalls in my pond, including a small one coming off the bio filter. The tallest waterfall is 4 feet high."
Night Delight
"Lights are my latest addition to the water garden. All the waterfalls and ponds are highlighted, and the effect is impressive. I've used stones to camouflage all the lights and wiring."
