Clearance Fix

An after-Christmas sale gave me a great idea for keeping critters out of our wood duck house. In the past, snakes and other animals have stolen the eggs, so we wanted to figure out a way to keep them safe.

I bought a plastic Christmas tree stand and made it into a baffle. To do this yourself, simply cut a hole in the bottom of the stand, slip it onto your pole and secure it with the eyebolts that come with the stand.

I filled the space between the baffle and pole with spray-foam insulation. Then I painted the whole thing brown as camouflage. Now we don't have to worry about disappearing eggs. —Robert Dillon, Nacogdoches, Texas
