Up to the Challenge

"After spotting an elaborate birdhouse while visiting our son in Bavaria, my wife asked if I could build one for her—only better," writes Gary Pomeroy of Springfield, Vermont. "I took up the challenge, and after more than 30 hours at the work bench, I finished this birdhouse. There are two nesting compartments, one in front and another in back, and two balconies that hold seed. I used five different kinds of wood and added copper flashing to the roof peak and edges."
