Budget Tower Sprinkler

Watering Woes? For about $20, you can make this tower sprinkler.

Every year I look for new ways that will help build efficiency in my garden. Last year I decided that I wanted a tower sprinkler that I saw advertised in a garden supply catalog. My current watering system—a sprinkler balanced on a concrete block—wasn't allowing the height and distance I needed in my flower beds.

But when my husband saw the price for the sprinkler, he said that it was too much for our budget.

I decided there must be a way to solve my dilemma creatively. I had read an article in Backyard Living about bent-sapling arbors (September/October 2005 issue, pages 18-23). I also purchased a book on projects made from bentwood. One of the projects was a tower trellis. I loved the way these looked, so I knew I found the solution to my problem. I would create a 3-foot bentwood tower sprinkler!
